How long does an interview need to last in order for you to know it went well? I had one for an Irish firm answered all the questions and i think it was positive, but i was just last 25 mins which has never happened before. I think i fear the worst.
Depends on the job & the stage of the process. First interviews tend to be shorter, later ones longer. Interviews for senior / specialist / technical roles tend to be longer than for generalist roles. No real hard rule about duration, but I would say it's difficult to get a proper picture of a candidate in under 30 / 40 minutes. Don't think there's an answer to your question but best of luck with it anyway.
Yes i would agree with all you said, the last interview i went for i was in there over an hour and 10 mins and it was a specialist position, this it is more general only took a few minutes even though there are plenty of skills needed for the position. The one thing i will say is the head interviewer seemed alright but i thought he was poor enough at asking the questions but we will wait and see. But there is no answer to my question, they said they will let me know by the end of this week or next so i will know when i know.
I conduct interviews myself and generally 30-45 mins would be the norm for IT anyway. Manager positions maybe a bit longer. If you had answers to all the questions and felt it went well, I am sure it did. Nothing worse than being kept in an interview by the candidate waffling on and on... and going off on tagents
There's no strict rule in my experience, the last time I was looking for a job I had 3 interviews, all for finance jobs, 2 which went on for over an hour, I didn't get either, the other was 25 minutes, I got that. You just don't know, it really depends on the interviewer.
