That's really tough. I remember reading great things about him, and watching him warm up on the pitch before the Chile game at Lansdowne. This sort of thing must happen to so many aspiring pros, best of luck to the lad.
the poor auld fecker there a lot of people who have the talent but throw it away because they are to fond of going on the batter on a Friday night and this lad does everything right and it gets taken away from him under the cruellest of circumstances
hate reading stories like that, had a few mates back in the late 70s who were over at top teams but sadly none made the grade,a few were homesick,i think the experience did them more harm than good as they never reached the heights they had show previously, another mate got a scholarship to US for his running abilities, kept waiting to see him running in an irish shirt but sadly not,was talking to him after 12 years he told me he only thought he was good until he went over, good runners were a dime a dozen there.still hold the school records at 800/1500
Absolutely delighted for him.He seemed to disappear off the face of the earth and when i found out off my cousin what happened i was gutted-you never like to see that happen to anybody least of all someone who plays for ireland.Hope he can have a good career.
Dixon suffers setback March 20, 2009 West Ham striker Terry Dixon has suffered a setback in his bid to make the breakthrough at Upton Park as the Irish youngster has been sidelined once again through injury. Dixon was forced to leave Spurs after a nightmare time through injury and it was hoped that he could resurrect his career with the hammers this season. Having made strides at the club, Dixon was poised to be handed a place in the first team squad this weekend, but a niggling calf injury has denied him of that. Hammers manager Gianfranco Zola said: “The problem with Terry Dixon is now he has sorted out his problems with his knee, every time he tries to force something he has a tight calf or groin because he has been out for such a long time. We have been following him for a long time. He may have had the chance to play by now if he was fit.
Hopefully he can make another comeback, would never like to see a hard working fella going through set back after set back
thats brilliant, i thought he was finished in football, he might be better off leaving it off this season and starting fresh next season. Great news, fair play to him.
The fact that he still has a career is amazing. These niggling injuries are only minor setbacks and I think he will come good next season.
Unfortunately, Terry's been released from his contract at West Ham by mutual consent. His injury must never have fully healed. I had high hopes for him when he joined. http://www.whufc.com/articles/201004...236884_2031878
