Supporting a club with such an illustrious history, who would u pick to be in LFC's all time greatest team? You can choose simply a starting 11 or include 5 subs. (I think that's the current match day selection available)... Correct me if I'm wrong.

Obviously I havent seen many of these players in action live, but I'm going on past footage and reputation aswell. Opting for the traditional 4-4-2:

    Ray Clemence

    Alan Kennedy
    Alan Hansen
    Jamie Carragher
    Phil Neal

    Stevie Gerrard
    Tommy Smith
    Graeme Souness
    Billy Liddell

    Kenny Dalglish
    Ian Rush

Thats a tough call... there's so many players left out... took me ages to decide on this... players like Barnes, Keegan, Callaghan, Hunt... a tough call but this is the best i can do.

I dont think many would get past that midfield. Smith and Souness would kick the legs aswell as dominate the play of any midfield around, with the power and pace aswell as scoring abilities of Stevie and Liddell, they'd notch up a few goals... and yellow cards in todays game :D.

Had to pick Kenny and Rushie, kills me to leave Fowler out, but sacrifices have to be made.

    What do u lot reckon?

you should all also check out my new thread... its gonna be equally as tough to pick... although i think the majority of the players in the new thread are gonna be from the last 10 - 15 years...

i hear ya. i've never seen em play myself... but i got the dvds, u should do the same, take a look at the legendary players that made the club so great. check out the partnership of keegan and toshack, rush and dalglish, ian callaghan and steve heighway on the wings, emlyn hughes in either position defence or midfield. Souness and Smith going into tackles, exceptional players. well worth a look. see how shanks transformed the club and paisley took it to another level.

This is so hard. So I will go on my own memories(last 15 years) mainly but also try and include a few of the legends.

    Bruce Grobbelaar

    Phil Neal
    Carra
    Hansen
    Rob Jones

    Stevie G
    Emlyn Hughes
    Graeme Souness
    Digger

    Fowler
    Daglish

Bench: Clemence, David Fairclough, Keegan, Rushie, Peter Beardsley

Thats leaving out some of the favourites like Redknapp, Mcmanaman, Aldo, Molby and Gary Mac

    McManaman --- Gerrard --- Souness --- Barnes
    Rush --- Dalglish

    -----------Grobbelar-----------
    Gerrard-Lawerenson-Hansen-Carra
    McManaman-Souness-Hughes-Barnes
    --------Dalglish-Rush----------

Bench: Reina, Thompson, Keegan, Fowler, Owen

And people give Rafa stick for playing him right side of midfield :) I'll play him right back and let him get forward as much as he likes.

I think this is one where I would have to agree with Molby when he was over in the Tram and just say that you should pick these type of teams based on the era they were playing in not a mix and match.

Rush is getting in everyones teams despite the fact that Roger Hunt scored more league goals than him, would Rush have been able to score as many in the much more physical game in the 60's or Rush be able to keep up with the pace of Fowler in the Premiership. Or even Billy Liddell that no-one would probably put in their team despite his record of a goal almost every 2 games in the 40's & 50's someone who most Liverpool old timers would have pushing King Kenny hard for greatest ever LFC player considering the clubs nickname for a while was Liddellpool.

Would Hansens ability as a footballing central defender have been able to cope in the more physical 60's or the no pass back premiership?
