could this be the year we win the leauge with the sighings rafa has made we are looking good.but is it a bit soon to be thinking about winning.lets just get a good start and we will see what happens
I think our aim should be to win it, but its the same in all competitions really. If we get a good start (unlike the previous seasons) anything is possible.
Last season I was very optimistic and look what happened. The team and squad will be stronger next year. In a one on one game, I think we are better than anyone, but over the course of the season, well again that remains to be seen. Top 4 will be closer next season I think. In that I include Arsenal. They seem be be written off from all sides. They havent become a bad team overnight and Henry barely figured for most of the season. Can we win it...Of course Will we win......I hope so, but I wont put my house on it
Like everyone else here, I am desperate for the Premiership, even more so than the Champs League, if we were to win just 1 thing next year I'd want it to be the Premiership. Though I dont think it will be this year, there are a lot of new signings and a lot of players will have to settle and adapt to the league. Its the strongest squad I can remember Liverpool having, and surely they'll push Man.Ure and the Trillionaires even closer this year. Prove me wrong lads. Get off to a flyer and keep it going over the course of the season. Its long overdue!!!
I would be happy if we were still in contention next Feb/Mar. I think that would be progress enough for this year. Of course we should be aiming to win it but I think that would be a bridge too far at the moment. Another good run in the Champions League should also be possible. As for winning the league - maybe season 2008/09 but unlikely to be this year.
Im going to put my head on the line and say a big NO!!!! I dont think the players Rafa has brought in will blend for at least another 6months to a year and we are probably 2-3 players away from a complete team. Still a bit to go yet to be as consistent as the top 2.
Unfortunately folk's,we think this every year and it doesnt quite pan out for us. We need a good start,no silly results against the lower teams,a good result early against Chavski, and we'll review in October/Nov,if were still in the shake up then, who knows? Certainly have the right squad now so heres hoping!
I will love it , love it if we.... Look we gotta get out there with confidence and belief. the Manager , the Players , the Fans, we have to believe we can do it. Belief is a key factor in LFC.
Ask again in November and everyone will have a more positive answer. Im hopeful for the new season but ill start getting excited if we're still in title race come end of this yr
I'm sure we have the potential at the moment, just keep playing steady. But so do the fucking Manchester bastards. They've made some mad signings...
This squad is capable of finishing top but it will come down to the form of key players.Clearly a good start is needed and better away form but key to this is our ability to beat the weaker teams in the league, for our new signings to settle in and present players like Kuyt and Pennant to improve their goal scoring record. We created plenty of chances last season but we lacked a certain creativity. This could have been down the more defensive tactics used by Rafa and i would like to see our strikers playing more orthidox roles this season. I am excited with our new signings and Rafa is bulding a great squad so i'm confident of a top 2 finish.
This is half the battle. If everyone associated with LFC has the confidence and belief we can do it then theres no team out there that can stop us. We have a team of players and a manger that are more than capable of delivering us #19
in the immortal words of victor meldrew "i dont believe it" - cautious optimism from megager about next season - although i nearly agree on most of ure points. Good start essential, u dont want to be outta the running in mid september. we do have the squad to attack on more fronts..but still think we're carrying some deadweight like kewell, hyppia, paletta, not convinced by pennant's consistency, jury out on aurelio too still i think. plus jose and fergie have both strenghthened as well, and u have to ask the simple question..will the signings bridge a 21pt gap?? i thought when we closed it by 27 pts in 2006 we were onto something but last year set us back - torres is the only world class signing but dunno will it equate to 21+ pts. dont wannt b a damp squib, would run naked through the corridors of CUH if we won it, but every year i start the season with huge optimism only to b kicked in the teeth. think 77/78 pts might win it this year - everyone saying more teams will drop pts at newcastle, west ham etc than b4. if we sign top class winger and cover at centre half...maybe! Just maybe!
I hate playing the points game- I don't find it a usedul measure at all. The year we 'closed' the gap the chavs took their foot of the gas as the league was won early. Last year when the gap 'increased' we were miles away and knew the CL place was secure so we focused on the CL games- the scum & the chavs were close so they didn't. All in all I can't say anything new- we need a strong start- to finish off lesser teams early & see where we are come Nov. If we are there abouts before the Christmas period we'll be contenders in my mind. Roll on away to Villa Aug 11th and then spank Chelsea at Anfield- 6 from 6 in the first two games will mean business!
If you are treatening to run naked through the corridors of CUH if liverpool win it, then I hope we dont. The world isnt ready for that yet Badman
