Just seen that Floyd Mayweather is squaring up against the Big Show Paul Wight. The WWE are really hard set ain't they
HAHA. yeah. How sad is that. I used to love the WWE until Stone Cold left and then The Rock went into movies. been pretty poo poo since then. I watch it the odd night after coming home from the pub.
I used to be addicted to this stuff but have long since left and moved on to UFC. Last Mania I watched was when the Rock fought Hogan. Still occasionally watch TNA on Bravo as they have Kurt Angle, Christian, the Dudleys and basically the entertaining wrestlers on the mike not the new WWE is where everyone looks they were carved from stone and its all about power. They always try something off the wall for Wrestlemania.
Was listening to 'Off the ball' on newtalk last night and some guy from Sports Illustrated was on saying MAyweather was getting 20 million for this, the same he got for the Dela Hoya fight. 20 million for basically 15 mins of acting. Nice Work if you can get it. I used to watch the WWF when I was younger. It was lot more innocent and somewhat 'realistic' in those days, hacksaw Jim Duggan, Jake the Snake, the Hukster. The last real icons from it were the Rock and Stone Cold.
Yeah he's the Champ at the moment. TNA have a much better business model than the WWE these days, they have a rosters of pretty much 'non' newbies, they know who the public like and just keep them on screen as much as they can and the wrestling is secondary simple as that. With the WWE all they are looking for is new talent to be the next Rock or next Stone Cold to make money from, making gimps like John Cena champ and the likes trying to force fans to like them. Also the Octogon style ring in TNA means they can be more inventive and there are more places for people to interfer from. Still, its no UFC!
I hear you about moving on, but must admit my last one was when Hogan fought Andre the Giant or the one after that (think it was Wrestlemania 3 or 4 or something)
Only for the likes of Austin, The Rock, Mankind(Cactus Jack,Dude Love) aka Mick Foley, The Undertaker and Triple H it has to be said in the late 90's kept the WWE in business. They were close to going under when WCW were whupping there ass in the ratings. WWE are still better than TNA in terms of ratings and pay per view's.
50 Cent & Snoop Dogg will be at WrestleMania this year! 50 accompanying Money Mayweather to the ring while Snoop Dogg involved in the Divas match!!haha.
Yeah it's on here Sunday evening- first time I'm in the states for it but about 10 years too late was going to get it for the craic but is $55 so NAH!!
$55 thats steep but I guess it works out as $37-$38 to buy it in here so perhaps not and if they get 500k buys to see it, it covers Mayweathers fee and then some. Thats the best thing with UFC now its all free to air and Setanta have confirmed when they take over the US UFC licence exclusively in July they will keep it free as they do with the UK main events.
last time I seen WWF as it was then, was in the point "the hitman" was top dog. I think his brother was a wrestler too .... can't remember his real name . went with my kid brother (dressed as the undertaker, full make up the lot .....................thats me not the kid bro mind) Honest question ,it was so long ago , Is he still alive ?
bret the hitman heart? him or his bro is death. maybe were all to old for it and the magic is gone. long live the hulkster!!!
ta aldo, i read a piece about a few of them dying and I thought he might be one of them alright. Hogan looks like he gonna live on for a while whatever he *took* Allegedly or not !!!
yeah it was owen hart that died. He climbed a ladder up to a rope to swing into the ring and the rope snapped when he was 40 ft above the crowd, he died instantly. Remeber it like yesterday. Dont watch it any more though, the whole mayweather v big show is a complete joke, it even made sky news
I used to love wrestling when I was a kid - remember I used to get up real early on a saturday morning to watch it AND I used to think they were really fighting! How sad was I???? In fairness though I was only about 6 at the time. The Undertaker was me favourite Would be interesting to see Mayweather and the Big show - real car crash TV but ya'd have to watch it if it was on all the same
