any suggestions to a good one .... have a iriver H320 at the moment which is quality but the connection for the charger is damaged and it take forever to recharge by the usb... it a 20 GB hard drive player with very easy drag and drop but it no longer made . So basically I am looking for something similar , Any suggestions ? Thanks in advance
I've an Itouch, one of the best items i've bought although it only has 8gb there's a new 32gb just come out on the market. I'd recommend one
Hi After 2 Creatives - both of which failed shortly after the warrenty had run out (ie. 15 months when the guarantee was only 12 months etc) and Creative being less than useless when it came to after sales care, they would not even give us the name of someone who would repair either machine for payment, not alone take it in and repair it themselves for a fee (which makes me made, as they've a massive operation in Dublin !) ... got an Ipod 80gb - so far so good.
I upgraded by 30gb iPod with an 80gb Classic at the weekend for €249. Creative may be easier to upload with the drag and click approach but the iPod is still the best MP3 on the market. I've 5,500 songs, 90 videos and 6 episodes of The IT Crowd and 20 episodes of Family Guy on mine and only used half the memory so far. iTunes is a doddle to use but I'd recommend downloading your albums from torrent sites and importing them as apart from not having to pay €9.99 an album the sound tends to be better than albums you rip and upload off your own CD's.
thanks for the replies. the reason i stayed away from the ipod range was my wife has a shuffle and due to the fact she lets on she can;t figure out how to put the tracks on it , I have to do it, and in my experience of doing it with both Iriver and Ipod, it takes much longer to load up the shuffle . I already use u torrent for music and then have to convert the tracts into "lame" for my mp3 player to Recognise them , how does the ipod fair on this ? Re ; the after sales service with creative : with the iriver which i bought in peats ,when i went back to them they said to get onto with the iriver web site as they didn't repair them and didn't know anybody who did !!!! I emailed iriver and got no responce , so it;s not just "creative" with no service . Again thanks for your posts , much appreciated,it's always good to get opinions from as many people as possible .
When you are downloading the torrent dont unclick any of the boxes that pop up for downloading when the track listing comes up. What I have found is most of the time when you open up the album to see the tracks downloaded there will be one track with no name on it and when you click this it will import the whole album names and all, and sometime the album cover depending on who uploaded the torrent. Other than that you have to do it track by track but can do an album in less than a minute and the track names etc will 99% pull through
Good stuff , i will deffo give the ipod a look so . Its strange you say that about the torrents as I normally untick the boxes that are not tracks to save download space...... To take you on a slight tangent , i was thinking of getting a phone/mp3 player (ie; sony erricsson walkman phone ) as I currently use my phone while Im working to listen to the radio .Any thoughts
I also changed from creative which kept freezing and then died to Ipod classic 80gb which was fine til last night my laptop wouldn't recognise it but that might just be the laptop must try it later. Never downloded music off anything other than itunes for ipod must try u torrent used lime wire for my creative alright quality was patchy though
I have a Creative and it failed so i brought it back to the shop i bought it in and they just gave me a new one straight away ! Nothing worse than having a broken product and not being able to get it repaired.
Ipod, simple as. It was the first Mp3 player I bought, never had a problem. I just wasn't happy with itunes. I have gone through a couple of creatives since then (both of which have broken) and am back with the iPod. Best decision i've made. They just don't break as much as other brands.
I had my original iPod for well over a year until I replaced it at the weeked and had no problems. You will get I found with my old one 8-10 hours per full charge depending on how much flicking around you do picking songs as opposed to just letting an album or playlist run. Its nowhere near the 20 hours they claim but thats the same with all mp3s.
Well i have a Zen and the only reason i bought it instead of an ipod was because i heard people telling me that the battery was faulty. Zen is very good although i have the older photo version with the new video one out now.I dont like the video one,its wayy to big for my liking. I have a massive problem with earphones.I dont know which is best; The in-ear ones or just the normal ones?? I like the in-ear ones because they tend not to fall out as easy.I always buy cheap ones and i think next time im gonna go all out and buy expensive ones.I actually seen some for 94.99 in tower records or wherever !!95 euro !!
I have the 80gb ipod and would not recommend it. Some songs that are not downloaded through itunes skip or dont play on the ipod. Its a glitch in the software and is only found on some 80gb ipods. Apple wont replace the ipod as they only recommend you add songs downloaded through itunes. Some copy protected albums wont transfer from your hard drive to the ipod; you'll need the original cd. Total cack if half your music collection is copied mp3s. Also, when you have hundreds of albums, it can be a test of skill to try and get the click wheel to go to the one you want.
If you are downloading the albums from torrent sites you dont have to worry about copy protection as it has already been stripped off the tracks. I always search my albums by artist, searching by album name seems like the most akward way to do it. I've yet to have a problem with skipping or non playing of any track I have put on an iPod so it may just be a problem with some players.
Am on my fifth ipod now after upgrading to the 160gb model and have been very pleased with each generation model I had. The only thing I would fault them on is the headphones, as the sound quality through them is not a patch on what it sounds like when you attach a quality set of headphones to the ipod. Battery life is very good on the 80gb and 160gb ipods too, unless you are using it for video only, then it eats it a lot faster.
Sorry for all the questions but how many songs would the 30gb ipod player store? (the real total not what the company tell you ) Going to have a look at the 30gb as i don't think i will get the time or chance to watch movies or tv series with the 80gb , so all i will use it for is music . I mostly use my mp3player while working.
I have the 60gb creative zen and I've no problems with it, good for video and music and easy to use. I had an Iriver before and while the sound quality was good, it was a bit awkward to drive. I heard the IPOD isn't good for certain file types, or only recognises certain types of files, is that right??
