    Oh NOooo

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/footbal ... 232390.stm

At a meeting in London on Thursday, all 20 clubs agreed to explore a proposal to extend the season to 39 games.

Those 10 extra games would be played at venues around the world, with cities bidding for the right to stage them...................
    ..........................

Lookslike Man Utd V Liverpool in New York then. sad days if this happens

Is it April fools??? imagine United and Liverpool are level on points at the end of the season, game 39 is Man U and Derby and we play Villa.... sounds like dung to me

I bet its Glazer, G&H and Lerner pushing this crap, get the games played at the Woodies DIY Superdome, commercial breaks at every throwin

I don't know the NFL seems to do well without it I can't see them fitting anymore games in though. I thought they are trying to cut
the amount of games not increase them. Would you turn down the chance to see Liverpool in Dublin

Paul your spot on, gradually its been taken away from the man on the street. The whole thing is about money now, and NOT about the reason the clubs where formed, to win big silver POTS.
I know people will say that its a chicken and egg thing but in my opinion there are a lot of people in football who would rather make more $$$ and not worry about medals than there should be .

The games are meant to be done in January around the time of the 3rd round of the FA Cup.

Watch as well the Premier League will find some way to exclude these games from the Sky/Setanta deals and they will have to stump up extra cash to show them.

Makes a mockery of them not allowing Wimbledon to move to dublin and play in the Premiership but taking the Premiership to the 4 corners of the earth for competitive matches is ok.

I can't believe some of you are surprised at this, as said, football in England has been dead for some time now. It's a business, and that's all it is.

Too right they can proper F**k off, i tell you what Liverpool Fc play their home game in Liverpool if people want to come and watch us that is one thing but they can f**k off if they think we are playing games in Hong kong, New York, Rio, Dubai or even Dublin for that matter. A disgrace a total joke.

It's an interesting idea ok i guess, the clubs still get their 19 league games home and away. However it would end up totally unfair even if the logistics of it all made sense. Take this season for example, wouldn't everyone like to play Derby for a 3rd time! Of course they would :D imagine though the poor feckers that had to play Arsenal for a third time. It just throws out the fixture list.
So Man Utd V Liverpool in New York could not be an option if Aresnal were playing Derby. Imagine Fergie if we drew with them and they lost the league by 1 point to Arsenal. Actually doesn't sound so bad now ;)

Well for this money making racket, sorry bringing the beautiful game to the world they will need to get the permission of UEFA, FIFA and all the dometic league of the countries that are meant to be hosting.

None of the top countries will let the premier league come in on their patch and take some of their revenue so the games will be getting played in the likes of the US, Asia and Australia, its all rubbish and it'll never happen. All it will take is for LFC, the Mancs, Gooners and the Chavs to put the foot down to say its not going to happen and it wont.

I bet these are the ones who want it... they are constantly flying to these countries on money making trip. They will probably be able to get their own tv contracts for matches such as this.
