    Hi

Just wondering, how many of you use Paypal on Ebay for making payments ?

Do you use the various currency options, or just Euro ?

What do you think of the service ?

    - personally, I really like the fact that you can hook up your credit card to it and in effect, pay others via your credit card even if they are not a shop or somewhere with a credit card processing facility etc.

Best and safest way to pay and receive for anything.Purchase with a near 100% guarantee if it is not what you ordered.Full refund.Cant argue with that.
Word of advice though.NEVER use the currency option or you will get screwed on the exchange rate.

My dad has been getting emails from ebay saying he must pay for this and that and confirm this and that when he hardly ever uses the thing. He rang up paypal and apparently someone hacked into his ebay account but couldnt get as far as the paypal account.

Saying that i know plenty of people who think its great.

Safest bet is to use a 3v voucher on Ebay instead of a credit card.

Anyone here have any experience of using paypal for business (not ebay)? I would have a couple of customers who want to pay by credit card but not enough for me to warrant getting a merchant account set up and paying the fees that that involves.

Basically I'm wondering, firstly am I allowed do such a thing, secondly how long does it take from the moment the money leaves someones credit card until it reachs my bank account and thirdly is there only one charge ie when the money is paid in (1.9 to 2.9%) and lastly can someone give me CC details over the phone and I imput them into my account?

    Thanks in advance,
    Bob

re your customers paying by cred card Bobby, you can charge a cred card charge on top, much like lfc do when we buy tickets

Our customers do it and are informed of the charge before they opt to use the option
It covers the merchant server charges.

I will also be looking into the paypal option in the coming weeks, want to add it to our service, have no info on it yet and don't know whether you can, its on my list of things to do......which never ends:rolleyes:

You can indeed use PayPal for payments, and its free, you can get the customer to pay the small fee for CC use, if you have your credit card set up on paypal, it will take about 3 working days to get onto your CC, I think its about 5 working days to go to your bank account, but its a lot more hassle to set that up,.

You can download the buttons for a website if need be from paypal also,.

or you can just give the customer your paypal details and they can deposit money.

    Hi

Just to add there are other options worth considering too:

    - NETeller (no need for a merchant account, as best I know & also allows "instant" payments worldwide)

    - Moneybookers - not used them for years, but heard a few others mentiont they were still going strong and worth checking out

    * Funny that I was the one who stated this thread (about 3 years ago, fair play for going searching for it ...) but since then, I've gone off Paypal to an extent as feel that Ebay imposing restrictions on what it can be used for is wrong (i.e. no gambling etc)
