Just saw a piece on it and I have to admit it was very moving and upsetting. Despite some idiots singing about it and them singing about us, id just like to put it aside. Common decency has died a poor and slow death in the last 50 years and I shiver at the thoughts of what those poor souls who died in that disaster would make of football today. RIP YNWA.
Here Here great post. It was a tragic moment for not only Man U but the footballing world. May they never walk alone. RIP YNWA
Seconded. Good post fella, the loss and tragedy of such terrible events seem to come second to the need for cruel and senseless jibes. Those who died in Munich, Heysel, Bradford, Hillsborough and similar, would turn in their graves in disgust at being used it spiteful bitter battles of one upsmanship. I put Bradford on that list as that club was subjected to chants about no smoking areas and having no smoking signs etc being held aloft by visiting "supporters". YNWA to those lost at Munich and to those they left behind. In remembering those lost in 1958, we should also let our minds rest with those lost in the other events.
Nice posts lads..... Football is after all.. just a game. When so called "fans" chanting and jeering degenerates so much that the dead are being brought into it, a line has to be drawn... May the victims of the various accidents and incidents always be remembered... YNWA
True, one of my saddest moments as a Liverpool fan was at the FA CUP Semi in 2006, a few idiots writing slogans in the Toilets of Old Trafford. Read a good few Articles over the weekend and I hope the City fans do the decent thing this weekend. One of their players from the 30s and 40s was a journo who was died in the tradegy.
I know the Sc*m want to do the right thing at OT.. but I think they should have opted for 1 minutes applause.. especially that City are the opponents... Lets hope the "brainless twits" do not appear.. but all it takes is 1 idiot to ruin any gesture.
is there to be a Minute's Silence at Chelsea V Liverpool next Sunday? if so i hope it's respected by both sets of Supporters.Rivalries should be put aside for that Day at least.... just passed by the Liam Whelan Bridge a few Mins ago.People are already putting Flowers down,i'd say there'll be loads there by Wednesday.there was a Utd Scarf tied to the Bridge also, hopefully no Muppet comes along and takes it down....
Unfortunately I think the one minutes applause should be the way forward for all these type of occasions.
there was a game on our pitch at the weekend between a cabra XI and a representative side though I didn;t get a chance to go down. Some pics in the Herlad today about it. Never heard of the bridge either
i was going to do it but i you wouldn't know what way it would be recieved.if it was going to cause any offence i wouldn't do it he grew up on Saint Attracta Road in Cabra, the Bridge is just around the Corner on Fassaugh Road.there's a Commemorative Plaque on the Bridge.
i was Talking to a few Lads about it today,i heared Paul Mc Grath Handed out the Trophies after the Game.
I must echo the sentiments as expressed by my fellow red comrades! tragedy is the ultimate leveller whatever the club etc.jus think if had happened to our beloved Pool? We above all must maintain our proud history which has never been less than gracious...in both victory or defeat..REDBULL
massive risk having the minutes silence at the city game.maybe im been over sensitive but will there be pull outs in papers or special shows on tele 50 years on from bradford heysel and hillsboro when them anniversies come around???i would be suprised
Liam Whelan Bridge is just around the corner from my girlfriends house and down the road from mine. He got a good turn out at the church. I Might head down tonight and put a LFC scarf up on the bridge if i am allowed the time of the studies LOL!!!
