Hi all, I'm from Drogheda and was just wondering if anyone knows of an official supporters club for the reds in the area? Is there even a post anywhere listing where the supporters clubs are? I checked out liverpoolfc.tv for official supporters clubs and the one listed for drogheda seems to be a bit outdated. I tried on many occasion to contact the listed people but got no answer. So any help at all would be great... if there's none in Drogheda are there any close by?
I was necer a member but I know they used to meet every week in pubs around the town (Cellars was the main base I think). I'm fom Drogheda myself mate and haven't heard anything about them in a while. Think theres one in Balbriggan
yeah that'd be really excellent.... where are most people based? Dublin? as i said I'm from Drogheda... getting to Dublin is easy for me regarding meetings etc.. PS if there's ever any help needed with anything, just let me know, I'll help any way I can
I met a couple of different people at the Chelsea semi and the final who are well up in a couple of dfferent supporters clubs here in Ireland. Basically what they told me they have no problems getting enough tickets for pretty much any match bar the CL final and the Mancs and Everton match(but they still get tickets for them matches(the Manc and Everton match but didnt get any for the final, but had their own fancards so got sorted) but not enough for all members of the supporters clubs). They even have excess tickets for some matches so they give them to people not in their supporters clubs because to keep the loyalty they need to use all the tickets they applied for a few weeks before the actual match. One even operates and classifies itself as a supporters clubs from a different county, just so its easier to get tickets as its seen(to the club) as a greater spread throughout Ireland. To be honest that pi$$ed me off and its a joke. The club should in fact cut back on the tickets given to supporters clubs as some are clearly taking the biscuit and now with most people having access to the internet and telephone im sure most people can apply for their own tickets.
theres one in drogheda and one in balbriggan the e mail contacts are on .tv.dont know about the drogheda one but the balbriggan one is pretty big, based out of the milestone
Hi Just a couple of points here: * Supporters Clubs don't always have lots of spare tickets. If recognised by LFC, they can apply for an allocation for each game, but are never guaranteed to get all the tickets they ask for, or even any ... although they usually do. Most members of a supporters club have fancards (eh, get one quick if you don't have one already !), go to matches regularly and hence also can get tickets this way. Sometimes, there are a few tickets floating around the clubs for games, but don't be fooled ... it's not tickets from heaven type stuff ! - all that said, supporters clubs can be very good, or very bad, depending on whose running them etc.
The tickets given to supporters clubs also tend to be the worse spec. If you like MX and poles blocking your view you'll delighted Seriously my own supporters club I find good besides the bad spec tickets. Myself and my mates always apply for tickets to games we're booked to go to but never depend on them so always try every channel I can - PTS spares, GS online and phone, late returns. If SC tickets come through then thats grand and I can try to get spares on GS for others then, if not at least I have other "possibilities". Usually demand outstrips supply, not much going for big games of course and note that its league only. All cups games are now completely covered by fancard loyalty (after autocup scheme for seasies) and supporter clubs get nothing for these now which is fair enough. In short the fancard is now a neccesity creating a direct link from you to the club and primarily you should plough ahead yourself regardining tickets and if any 3rd party ones come along take them as bonus or getting you out of a hole. With the TO closed down this week testing "new systems" I wonder whats around the corner this year for online sales and chipped fancards etc.
Stay Away - DIY I've been in a supporters club for few years. The one I'm in is useless all they do is look after their mates especially for big games. Just get a FanCard and buy on-line yourself. Pick a fixture you want to see (be realistic) book your hotel (no cost if cancelled) then check out the date of sale on liverpoolfc.tv. Get on-line early, they normally open at 8.30am also try phoning at the same time. Then if successful book you flights/boat and thats you - Anfield here we come! I've done this about 8 times over the last 2 seasons and have been successful everytime.
