Since Torres arrived I have been really excited for the following season, more so than the last 3 years since rafa has arrived.

I think if we get Babel (almost a certainty) and possibly Henize or someone else our squad will have some serious depth which will surpass man utd and chelsea and even arsenal.

Its also good too see these signings are taking place before the season starts or on the last day of the transfer market. Which gives them enough time to get used to rafa's way which seems to put some players completely off usually has he demands the very best from a player almost at the drop of a hat.

Hopefully the required "adapting to the prem league" stage will be short lived and our team can function as a unit going forward and defending.

Also, with these feelings of excitement and fascination I wonder if we will make the much needed improvement than last season.

I don't want to be hyper critical of Rafa but there were times especially away from home where we were it looked as though our team was waiting for something to happen i.e. the game was flat, loose passes, belting the ball to no one, waiting for the opposition to make the first move.

It seemed to work on the European stage where teams were willing to have a go since they were the home team but the premiership outside the top 4 is mainly inferior opposition and are contempt to pick up a point so they have 1 up front and just battle away for 90 minutes.

I also don't want use to go all gun ho (not that we would under rafa) like man utd as we saw the consequences of that against milan and their tactics. But at least use the ball better, pass it a bit more and try and get an extra mid field player in the box which I thought was another failing of our team last year. We always seemed to be restricting gerrard and alonso in particular.

Another season long annoyance was our distribution from corner kicks was woeful. I've never seen so many players actually hit the first man so many times or on the other extreme..completely bypassing the box.

I think the players we are bringing in and got rid of will improve us vastly and with our senior players getting a break after 3 long seasons and international duty hopefully our start to the season will be much better.

Still a long way to go though but non the less its an intriguing, passionate and almost painful journey for a reds fan but I wouldn't swap it for anything else.
