Shamrock Rovers Press Release
Tallaght Gets Green Light
Press Release Issued : 25 Jan 2008
The Tallaght Community Stadium finally got the go-ahead today when the
High Court rejected Thomas Davis GAA club's application for leave to appeal to the Supreme Court.
On December 12 last the High Court ruled in favour of South Dublin County Council and against Thomas Davis GAA club in the Judical Review of the stadium.
This morning Judge Murphy ruled that there were no legal grounds to justify an appeal to the Supreme Court and the two-year legal wrangle has come to an end.
This means that work can resume on the site and Shamrock Rovers can look forward to moving into the stadium for the start of the 2009 FAI eircom League season.
Says Shamrock Rovers Chairman Jonathan Roche: "We're delighted that the matter is finally resolved. It's a relief for us all that we can say Rovers are finally going to have a home.
"I want to thank everyone who supported us along the way, from the South Dublin County Council to the various politicians and the FAI - and of course our great fans.
"We'll be seeking a meeting with the SDCC as soon as possible to get the builders back at the stadium and look forward to seeing the hard hats and bulldozers on site."

Yeah i heard about Shamrock Rovers where you are from ? Shamrock Rovers F.C. are an old Club not something new and with the new 10,000 seater stadium they will attract massive crowds to Tallaght like the old days in RDS & Milltown when they attracted 20,000 odd.
There is an amazing atmosphere at the games especially with all the Ultras stuff they do e.g

Unfortunately people aren't willing to Invest money in the League but the Support in the Eircom league is larger than people think but until the Stadia are improved will always get small crowds, but the fans they have are Fanatical.
Shamrock Rovers is owned by the Supporters for the last few years !
You should go games that are Rivals like Bohs V Rovers or Cork against Rover's, Bohs, Derry, there are great atmospheres

Bohemians are hoping to build a 10,000 stadium Drogheda Utd are building a 20,000 seater, Shamrock Rovers are building a 10,000 seater, Cork have a 9,000 seater with future plans.
Not sure of the rest but i know they all have plans for modernising there grounds.

Sweet god i will be going to almost every home game in Tallaght, it is the best news the Club have had for almost 20 years.
LAST MAN STANDING ! ! !
Personally, I didn't not fully agree with the decision in the above case re judicial review. i fully understand the case and it judgment, however i feel that because the stadium will receive substantial funding from the co council, i feel it is somewhat ignorant to the wider issues of the community, not merely to facilitate GAA but also community games etc...
And this is not a snipe at Rovers, merely addressing wider issues. Personally i will be going to all the games only living down the road...

Joe, the ground is a community stadium, it will facilitate many games and different sports at under age level, TD blatantly lied many times about how unfair it was to have it as a 'soccer only venue', these are lies. To fit in senior GAA games, a lot of the work that was already done would have had to have been removed and i think as shown in Croker with the football, it is a bad idea to have both games on one pitch. TD have great facilities, they do not, and never did, need the stadium, Kennedy was out to try and destroy Rovers and not let them in to Tallaght.

Wise up kid the Shamrocks is a boss name for a team, You are not a small club but you don't have a ground even? I honestly never heard of you sorry mate but don't mean to offend, are the shamrocks a full time side ? The Irish clubs i heard about are the ones that have been in Europe. To be fair to me there is probably a lot of small clubs you would never have heard of in conference north in England.

I've never claimed to be a die-hard Liverpool supporter, they really are just the team that i follow in England, i don't see any problem with that, i don't see why anyone on here would have a problem with my choice of who i support, and who i simply follow from a different country.
Have to pick you up on that last bit, what exactly do you mean by that?
Personally, I feel that as a forum based upon a shared and common interest, we should be supportive of one another. we have built up a great community here, and there is no need to prove that you are more of a reds supporter than the next person. It's not a competition. Most of us here like to see many teams across Europe doing well and we should respect this.
If members here are active, share a common interest and add something to the furom I have no problems with this...

Indeed, i don't think it should be a problem that Liverpool are not my first team of choice, or that i use 'we' or 'us' in a Rovers related thread.

Read what else they say, about how they are 'discontinuing their legal challenge', no they're not, they lost. There's nothing else they can do. Also how it is 'specifically excluding the GAA', again lies, it is not, it can hold many under age games for many different sports. All along they have been lying, they never needed the stadium, all i want to do is forget about this chapter and move on, although my hate for TD will never really subside and that for the GAA.

Yes i know, that's fair enough, it just happened to come up that i wasn't a die-hard or very passionate Liverpool supporter, but i take quite an interest in them, i watch the games when i can, love Liverpool as a city itself and have been over to a few games.
Already i've seen that it's been taken into account when i post, and apparently to some, makes my opinion less important, or not even valid. I am not a bitter, or a manc, but you'd swear by some of the reaction that i was, and that i'm just looking for some sort of trouble. I never meant to slag Liverpool or take a sly jab at them, maybe saying 'just' was a tad silly.
Again, unfortunately, a Rovers thread has been taken over by people slagging the LOI and Rovers, perhaps in future they just shouldn't be started.

Listen Kid i did not take the P**S out of the Shamrocks Rovers and i certainly did not take the piss out of you, you did that all by yourself !:) Sorry but if somebody is having a go at my club just calling them another team basically i usually stand up as would all reds.
The next time they make Europe let me know mate and i will watch out for the sleeping giants of European football :D
Lmao dont worry mate they are just waiting for the start of the new season then they will be off here supporting THEIR team :D:D

What is going on, i've already pointed out where you did start taking the piss out of them and calling me a 'simpleton', why is none of this registering with you?
I've already directed you to our European records, your choice whether you want to look at it or not, and also, just because a team doesn't make Europe you laugh at it? That's a great attitude to have. Please, just stop.

I am a Liverpool fan mate and i laugh at fans of clubs who have not been in a proper European Ranking competition in about 14 years espicially ones who call their club a big club.
Ok lets call a truce i never call your team the Shamrocks and you say the Liverpool are not an ordinary club ? That will end it as it is getting boring now kid.

That's like me saying i laugh at clubs who say they're big clubs when they haven't won their league in 18 years!?
I never meant to say that Liverpool were an ordinary club, the word 'just' shouldn't have been used, and just to clear things up, my problem wasn't with 'The Shamrocks', it was with the slagging you were giving when you admitted not knowing what you were talking about.
Now yes, let's just leave it, if you do have anything to say PM me.

Ha, this isn't about the 'us' and 'we's, more the fact that i called Liverpool 'just another club', of course crossing a line in doing so!
