    I thought of Steve Bruce also......................I know Wigan weren't in the Premiership during his first stint with them.........idn't he have two stints with Birmingham also??

    no. he managed villa till 1990 and when he first managed watford they werent in the premiership.

    On the basis that Pleat is the correct answer then Parkes also has to be.
    Both were manager in a caretaker/long term stand in position.

    alright so, i forgot bout parkes. He stood in as caretaker manager for Blackburn in the premiership 4 times, taking over from Ray Harford, Roy Hodgson, Brian Kidd and Graeme Souness after their departures.
