Hi guys. It appears that as a club we support Sheff uniteds claims against relegation ( if Rick Parry's attendance at their court date is to be believed).
I was wondering does anyone here however support their plight.
My feeling, however hars, is that they went down on merit, if they got their fingers out, they might have had a chance. I think thier (and hope) appeals will fall on deaf ears. Personally I think they should be concentrating on next season, not last.
I dont miss them. For me, they added nothing.

I agree they added zilch to the prem but it seems to me that West Ham's breach of the rules should have attracted a points deduction.
The appeal result came out yesterday or the day before and it held that the West Ham penalty was valid, or rather said it wasn't perverse or arbitrary I think. They did add the caveat that that had the appeal bench heard the original case they would have imposed a penalty of points deduction.
I've always liked West Ham as a club for the football they have tried to play but I reckon that Sheffield Utd have good cause to feel aggrieved.

I think West Ham should have been deducted points for what they did and so they would have been relegated just think they broke the rules.
But from a footballing point of view i hated Neil Warnock and the way Sheffield United played was so negative and depressing and would much rather West Ham in the PL.
Also Warnock gave out about Liverpool and the Mancs putting out weakened teams against other teams in the relegation battle, yet he put out a very weak team against United because they(Sheffield United) where playing Charlton 4 days later.

Hi
Definitely 2 different points here:
Should West Ham have been deducted points
For what it's worth, my personal view is a definite Yes, they should have been deducted at least 6 points for what they did, as with any other team ....
Do you think Sheffield Utd should be in the Premiership
I like the club a little, but don't think either their players or their managers methods were right to keep them up ... sorry lads, you appear decent guys, I appreciate your not loaded (just like LFC was not for many years etc), but you seriously need to get a different manager and a few more attack minded players :)

This will get messy. I hope our buisiness is conducted already, though I suspect we have an 18 month loan, option to buy.
For the record I am totally against an agent owning a player. It is warped in my opinion. Sure if it stalls the manc purchase of Tevez, then it is to our advantage, for now, but we may be in the same boat next summer.
I hope the FA rule that Tevez can be sold to united, that west ham get the money and that Kia Joorabchian gets nothing. That way this might stop future incidents like this.
The on-going saga which follows Carlos Tevez's every move shows no sign of abating, with Sheffield United chairman Kevin McCabe having now claimed that fresh evidence has come to light.
Following an independent arbitration panel's decision to uphold the Premier League's decision not to dock West Ham points, for third-party ownership in the signings of Tevez and Javier Mascherano, the Blades have made no secret of their belief that an injustice has been manifest.
The arbitration's ruling has not, though, put an end to the affair, with Tevez's purported move to Manchester United having once more thrown the diminutive Argentine back onto the back pages.
West Ham have claimed he will not be allowed to leave Upton Park but the player's representative, Kia Joorabchian, insists he still owns Tevez's economic rights and would be entitled to any fee, rather than the Premier League club, who hold the forward's registration.
The Hammers had claimed that this agreement had been torn up, following the Premier League's decision to impose a £5.5million fine, but now, Joorabchian has reportedly provided fresh material which could open up the case once more.
McCabe is adamant in his belief that compensation should be forthcoming and he will arrive at the High Court on Friday in a confident frame of mind.
"Don't discount what might happen in the next few days," McCabe told the Yorkshire Post.
"This issue is not finished as far as we are concerned.
"We have found out more. It has taken time because everyone is reluctant, but we have 'further information'. We have put it back professionally to the Premier League where we are still looking for answers. Sheffield United will not be pushed around.
"It is ludicrous. Do you expect a company that owns the economic rights to Carlos Tevez and was willing to pay £15million to get them from River Plate to walk away with nothing from his transfer to Manchester United? And do West Ham United expect them to get nothing?
"Behind the scenes we have been digging up information that will be embarrassing for the Premier League to answer. Whether that means we still have to take our place in the Championship, I don't know. This is business and the Premier League have to get hold of that idea - they have to get real."

I agree.
This situation is embarrassing for West ham, the player and Kia Joorabchian. If there isnt a strict stance of this all money for players will go to middlemen, that will inflate prices further. This gives agents the power they always desired.
Is it a form a slavery? You cant move unless I say so

I don't think we can read anything into Parry's attendance in court, its my understanding that he was there because he was the Chairman of the Premiership when the current rules governing this kind of thing were drawn up.
But I could be wrong.

Dont agree with the headline, just think Parry as it says was there to explain the process Liverpool went through when signing Mascherano.

I think that there is more to Parry's attendance than that.
As I understand it we only have Masch on loan until around the end of next season thus we have a vested interest in the Tevez affair being sorted in a way that will not obstruct our outright purchase when the time comes.
You've hit the nail on the head there Dub13, the only reason Parry was in attendance today was because he was chairman of the Premier League way back in the day when the initial rules were made up and signed off. Nothing to do with LFC or Javier Mascherano in any shape or form.
Anyway, looks like its all over for Sheff Utd now with the high court throwing out the case and denying them an appeal to the supreme court. I'm starting to get a bit bored of this story anyway, Sheff Utd must just accept their fate and get on with trying to get back into the mega bucks league asap. I'm no fan of the club - mainly because of their manager - and I do think West Ham should have been docked the points in the first place, but the decision's been made. Move on.

I dont think anyone has a clue.
All I know is that the "word" seems to be that we have him till th eend of next season with an option to buy for £16m.
