This year i set up a football team in the wicklow league from scratch. we got to a cup final in our first year and didnt win it but was good to get there. Anyway they are now taking votes for player of the season and im trying to get my captain a few votes as he has been great this season. Should he not win it on ability, can't believe they have opened it up to the public. Not having a go or that because I've voted for stuff similar to this in the past but as someone who still plays I'd hate to win a football award based on getting votes because someone asked others to vote for me. Football awards should always be down to what your team mates and others in the league think of you.
fully agree mate! i just think he deserves recognition for how well he's played this season and since its been done as a public vote may as well try help him, i tought they should've maybe allowed each club 1 or 2 votes each but had to vote a different clubs player or something!
Done but I totally agree with Liam's post. Any video clips on Youtube of him playing so we can judge for ourselves.
Wayne why doesn't your club have it's own end of season awards that way you can honour your best players and believe me the lads that win it because it's from team mates voting will think more of it than some randomer who has never seen them play. We do it and it works out quite well.
Doing that too mate i have a awards night set up a few awards, this is just for the awards givin out by the league, he's already gonna take player of the year for our own team it'd just be nice for him to win it at the league awards to i know a public vote is not the right way around it Liamo i fully agree with you mate but thats the way they've set it out so may as well try help him get it.

Haha we've come on a bit since our famous 11-1 defeat by Peamount a few years ago. We lost the Dublin league by one point last night we needed Kill to either lose or draw their last match and the feckers scored in the 90 minute to win 3-2. Talk about gutted We have now turned our concentration to the Summer Wicklow league and playing Arklow Utd tomorrow night. No rest for the wicked hey
