Everyone seems to be complaining about the dour atmosphere at Anfield this season and even for the past few seasons its been very poor.

Surely there is a way to make Anfield into the cauldron that it used to be.

Are any of the supporter groups trying to do anything about it?

I started this thread to see what ideas people have in a bid to recreate Anfield into one of the most hostile and fearsome stadiums in the world.

So what ideas do people have...

Get rid of day trippers and tourists. Get some decent players, lower prices and win some games by scoring loads of goals! Go on a 10 game unbeaten run and the stadium will be packed and the fans will be deafening.

A safe standing section for those who want to make noise in the Kop (doubt it will ever happen for a few reasons). Hard to generate an atmosphere and get fired up on yer arse.

High tempo start needed to get the crowd going in big games especially. Up to the team first and then fans to respond.

Evening KO's always seem better imo too but that's out of our hands of course.

Lost cause though imo, it is what it has become.

A big massive drum, and use the drumstick to beat some people with it.

As much as we hate seeing tourists comming over for the games not adding to the atmosphere the club love this and will keep adding attractions for them to come over as the money they would spend is far more then they would prob get off 10 locals going to the game.

Singing sections should defo be introduced to get the atmosphere back.

would the lads in 304/5/6 be willing to move to the front of the kop, or would they say they want to stay, they are in the 1 place they get away with standing for the whole match as it is

Sadly there is no magic solution to bringing an atmosphere back to Anfield. It's safe to say it has been quiet for a good few years now and I don't even think that challenging for top honours will do much to change it.People seem more obsessed with purchasing souvenirs in the club shop and taking snap shots for their FB profiles than cheering on the team.

    Elvis define daytripper?
Surely you dont mean if you not from liverpool city your a day tripper? if your from bolton or dublin or nenagh or shanghai your somewhat a lesser liverpool fan?

Anyways to reclaim it- possibly a singing section, some drums and lads that know how to use them well and thhe main one-more goals on the field.

everyone on this site are 'day trippers', even the lads who go every week are by definition day trippers and tourists to the city.

And if you get rid of them how in the name of fcuk does the club grow? we want a bigger stadium to compete but that is based on having 15k every week coming in from outside Liverpool. There isnt much room for growth in the Liverpool market, look at the empty seats at mid week games over the last few seasons.

As mentioned I think a defined singing section is necessary to get the crowd going but in my oppinion STH are worse than 'day drippers' for not singing and getting involved in alot of cases.
But in all honesty if the players dont look like they give a fcuk on the pitch its hard for the lads on the terrace to get behind them.

What prendy said above. We are all day trippers. Stuff like this just fuels the OOT hatred that some engage in.

The game is international. We shouldnt judge by geography. Its bordering on xenophobia.

One thing Ive read a lot about is safe standing. I was totally against it for obvious reasons. But my minds been turned on it. Other than that its education thats key, particularly for the younger fans that wouldnt remember the way the kop was. Leaflets pre-match etc might be a reasonable start?

End the practice of ST's having the same seat for every league game,by all means continue to sell ST's but all it should guarantee you is a seat in the ground.
Too many people sit together that have zero interest in contributing to the atmosphere, mix iup a bit.
I'd love it to go back to the days of paying in on the day but in reality that's not hoping to happen.
Members sales should only gain you admission to the ground, your card is activated and its up to you get to the ground early to get on to the kop for example.as soon as a particular stand is full close the turnstiles, the people locked out will have to queue for another stand.

a singing section would be deadly. not sure how easy it would be to arrange mind you.

but then if members and season ticket holders sell on their tickets, then that doesn't help matters! I mean, a bunch of 'tourists' were at united away, which says it all really.

and the daytripper/tourist notion is ridiculous too. the club do pre-season tours in the USA and Asia to promote the club for a reason. they need these people attending, as stated above. they need the cash from merchandise, that's the reality!!

and at the end of the day, again, as said above, we are all 'daytrippers' whether we go 20 times a season or 2. I wonder how many games a season the original poster attended? so is he/she, in effect, a day-tripper too?!
