According to Sky, Tom Werner is talking up Clint Dempsey. Opinions? I think he would be a decent player for us if the price is right

    Clint Dempsey come on down!!!!!

Would like to see him join us but would he be a regular starter? Hopefully he would be better than the last "player" we took from Fulham.

Decent player, and I do like him. He's had a few run ins with our boys on the pitch before though. Didn't like the way Werner went about it though. There was no need for it. I'd take him for 9mil.

Good player, had an unreal season scoring wise, which I think he's unlikely to repeat (he played large parts up front for Fulham remember).

We are crying out for pace in our squad and Dempsey doesn't have it. He is never going to get in ahead of Stevie either which is the only place I can see him having an real impact in our team.

Decent player but not what we need, in my opinion.

If we can get him for under 10 million its a no brainer in my eyes , i really like him as a player .

I'd be happy with a swap for Kuyt

In my opinion signing him could have too benefits

He is probably second best known US player behind Landan Donovan so signing Dempsey would give LFC far more exposure in the US

Currently in the squad only Gerrard is consistent on getting from
Midfield into the box from a central position. Maxi does have late arrival in his locker but he will be off in the summer. Bellamy can't play every game. Dempsey never seems to miss a match. He is not world class but would definaltely improve the current options.

    I would welcome his signing.

    I read the story yesterday.

    http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/2896...-tom-werner-confident-of-busy-transfer-window

Make up your own minds. Since it was published other websites and now Sky are repeating exaggerated version's of Werner's comments 'just like Chinese whispers'.

But I will say this he has had an outstanding season. Fulham could be looking to sell but would be wanting a very high price.

That could work very well for all involved . That would be the ideal solution but i can't see kuyt wanting to go to fulham . When Kuyt does leave he will go back to holland .

Most unlikely at this stage of his career as the wages in the Dutch league are small in comparison. Germany would be much more likely.

I'm not so sure Redabbey. Feyenoord need only to win or draw in their last game and they are back in the champions league. If they qualify I can see them offering a route home for Kuyt. The extra revenue from champions league will help them no end.

To be honest aswell, knowing the character Kuyt is, I would be sure he'd take a return to his home club for lesser wages than a stint in Germany for more money.

Didn't mean Kuyt would go to Fulham I'd be happy for Kuyt to be sold on and for us to replace with Dempsey just to keep a bit of experience in the side and only if the price was right. If we looking at a high transfer fee I'd rather invest in a younger player that is ready to hit the ground running.

Still couldn't see Feyenoord paying any more than £20-25K a week

"Dirk would fit in really well here, and we would love to see him return this summer. However, our chances of re-signing him this summer are very slim," Van Geel stated to Eredivisie Live.

"Even if we manage to qualify for the Champions League, that will not increase our budget for new players. We don't include income from European games in our budget, so we can't afford any big expenses."

Hasn't Dempsey just 1 year left on his contract?

If so I wouldn't want to be paying more than 5 mil

I think you know aswell as me Rocco what is said in public and what happens in private are both very different.

How many times have we said one thing in public about transfers/budgets then gone on to sign somebody we didn't expect.

It will all boil down to the conversation Dirk has with Kenny about his game time next season and Kuyt's desire to return to Feyenoord.

I still think it's his most likely destination if he leaves us this summer (provided Feyenoord qualify for champions league).

I'd agree with Rocco and Gary on this, if Kuyt's replacement is Dempsey that's an improvement in the squad and adds value to the "brand". I'm not exactly sure what his best position is but he seems equally comfortable in 3 or 4 positions. He has that bit of nastiness we lack too.

The likes of Dempsey and Hoillet are decent players and I’ve have no problem getting the likes of them but a lot of our recent signings have been big fish players at smaller clubs.

If we sign them as squad players fine but we need to be trying to get proven quality in rather than squad players as we have enough of them.
