i go onto our web site quite a lot and all i am reading there is how much money rafa spends, how much more he needs and how much the wyanks will give him, or not give him. we blame the failures of our team on money, if we have to buy every and any decent player that is going then what does that leave the manager to do. the same thing is going on right through the premership. all the managers are now blaming their failure on not enough money to spend. the way the game is going in another few years all they will have to do is put the premiership up for sale and let the richest owners bid for it. the injustice of that though would be that managers like wenger would lose out, because he is not one that flashes the fans and the owners money around. its about time we got back to building our teams up using the ability within the club, for sure buy the odd player to fill gaps; but what we do now is we buy so many players that we have some great talent sitting on the bench week in and week out, talent that is wasted to the fans.:(

Football is unforgiving now, and if the club spent time developing young players for the future instead of investing in talented players now, it will be another 10 years before we win the league.

Wenger is the exception rather than the rule, and Ferguson got one good batch that are still the spine of his side, but what has he brought through since then? He's quietly bought his titles in the last few years.

Its the way of the game now.

You could spend years developing a batch of players with no guarantees they would make the grade or you can buy a player who is already at the standard you require. When fans and owners are demanding success NOW, not in 5 years from now, there is only one option. We would all love to have more players coming through from the youth team but unfortunately its doesnt happen often enough.

Never mind breeding the players. If the Geordies are anything to go by,it will be managers we will have to breed.

It's the way the game has gone unfortunately. Staying in the Champions League is essential for bug clubs.

I think we would all like to see our youth structure produce players like Stevie G, God, Michael, Carra more often but its a freak occurance when there are more than one or two in a 3 or 4 seasons.

Wenger bought a lot of his kids so I don't fully agree that his youth structure is producing. He did buy some good young players and is nuturing them now.

After the Premier League payout at the end of this season, there will be a lot of money floating around in the summer transfer market. This situation of buying success is not going to change anytime soon!
