Does anyone know how you go about getting yer burglar alarm to your house disabled?

This morning I was sitting here with the front door open and a gust of wind came and it slammed shut and the cover fell off the wee box on the alarm in the sitting room.
    So it started going off.
I keyed in the code and it stopped but every time i try to put the cover back on, its hitting buttons and the fookin thing goes off all over again.

So at the monent the cover is just hanging there by a wire, a big ugly looking eye-sore.

Anybody know how to just disable the poxy thing completely so that i can put the over back on?

I dont want an alarm at all.

    (thanks in advance) :)

Maybe just leave the cover off?

    Best talk to your installer/manufacturer.

Yeah I've the cover off at the mo, cant leave it off completely coz its connected by wire and alarm goes off when I disconnect that wire.

So its just hanging there, looks fcukin awful (its in my sitting room)

Dont know who installer was. Might try see if I can get a phone number for manufacturer alright

If there is a sparks on the site or that you know they may be able to advise on which wire to disconnect though I think house alarms have an inbuilt battery too.

hi mate. Both are the same unit. The key-pad cover and the panel door/cover are both attatched (same unit) so both fell off.

The rubbery key-pad is still intact, but every time I try to place the plastic cover back on, its hitting buttons and triggering the alarm again.
I left it ringing for 10 minutes trying to fix it back on, but I gave up after that.
Its pretty deafening and I dont want my neighbours bitching at me

cant get it into the right position to sellotape it back on. Its hitting the rubbery "number" buttons and setting alarm off again as soon as I go near it

Yep, as soon as i go to put cover back on it does exactly what you say, "Keypad tamper"

    Also sometimes says "tamper-switch".

Always either one or the other.

    What does that mean?

tamper switch is what it says on the tin,its there to stop anyone tampering with your alarm whether its set/unset.do you still have the screw that fixed it on or did it snap off?if it snapped off you coud need new keypad,if plastic+screw are intact, screw back on,ignore the alarm ringing, you should see the fault light clear when its fixed on

Yeah both are intact. No sign of any bits broken off or anything!
If begin to screw back on it sets alarm off again imediately, you reckon it will just sort itself out if i keep going???

yeah should be fine, its goin off to say "someones messing at keypad",once you have it screwed on properly, the fault light should have cleared, then put in your alarm code ,it should stop ringing for you.the only thing is i cant see how it fell off in first place without damaging screw threads???im a sparks but no alarm expert hope that sorts it for you

    Fcukin worked!

Jesus man, I owe you a few pints! :) :)

    Absolute life saver!

Neighbours must be wondering what the fcuk I'm at. Fault light went off and a voice thingy said system re-set.
Me ears are still ringing :D

A couple of weeks back, we had a power cut here and it went off. But i didnt have the code (nobody had given it to me when we moved in, and i had never set it), so at the time I had loosened the screws to see if i could get it to stop. (ended up ringing previous owner for code)
I obviously never tightened them back again, so when the door slammed today it just dropped off.

The keypad message had me thinking it had been damaged or something.

Really relieved to have it sorted.

You're an absolute gent, thanks so much mate! :)
