Never started one of these threads so going to try it out... if we could handpick a team to play at anfield after last nights debacle surely it would be wigan? we really should be trouncing them.
It would be Wigan but as long as we pick up 3 points. Still wondering what went wrong last night, shambolic at the back particularly for the last goal. Lookin forward to the wigan game though set things right....a 4-0 would be nice, but am I hoping for too much here?
The last few seasons all our games with Wigan have been tricky enough. Hopefully we'll change that come Saturday!
Time to start preparing for next season. Shelvey to be given a start, Henderson to play every game from here on in in the middle, Sterling and Suso given some game time. Coates to start every game at CB. Reina Kelly (depending on fitness) Johnson (depending on fitness) Flanagan Coates Skrtel Enrique Gerrard Henderson Shelvey Downing Suarez Sterling
We really should be giving some of the younger lads a runout at some stage not starting them but atleast on the bench. Over the last few games there will definately be some game time available for the younger members of the squad. This is the time now that we should be able to give them game time as the league means nothing now imo.
Wigan are probably saying the same thing.. We should be trouncing them but we won't... If only we could play Everton or Chelsea every week
We never get it too easy against Wigan but we really should be winning this game. How many times have we said that this season! I'd go for: Reina Flanagan, if Johnson and Kelly injured Carragher Skrtel Enrique Henderson Spearing Gerrard Downing Suarez Carroll Subs Doni Robinson Coates Adam Sterling Shelvey Kuyt If Johnson or Kelly are fit, I would play Coates instead of Carra. I think Coates and Flanagan would be too much of a risk. I'm still not sure about Flanagan, I think he would need Carra alongside him to talk him through.
4-3-3 - not the team or even squad that will be picked but i would love to see it. would love us to go a couple of goals up an be able to bring sterling and suso on the last 20mins Reina kelly/johnson depending on who is fit, if not flanno Coates (should play every game till at least Agger is back (and if performing should nto be dropped, simple as. lots of potential but needs games). Skrtel Aurelio (drop enrique for this to give him the wee boot of the arse he needs) Gerrard henderson (needs time in the middle of the field, his best position) Shelvey (perfect game to give him) Downing Carroll Suarez Bench Doni Enrique Carra Adam Sterling Suso Kuyt Not convinced jayo is needed at home to wigan he shouldnt be anyway)
Eh did you see the game last night, the way this season is panning out I'd wait till It was at least 4 to give any of the kids a run
I think Gerrard needs a player alongside him that will sit and hold, so that he can go forward. We saw in the Bolton match, that Gerrard, Adam both went forward and left a load of space that Bolton capitalised. That is why Lucas and now Spearing, is important to Liverpool because the rest of the midfielders are not discplined enough to hold the midfield, especially as I am assuming that Wigan will play 3 in midfield.
yep but the team i picked had 3 central midfielders, if one cant sit if the other two is getting forward then there is no hope for this liverpool team as we have the most brainless set of footballers at our club. wigan are extremely limited, and while jayo is good at what he does, if we are reliant on him to hold fort so we can beat wigan at home then we are just a shocking shocking team. my thinking would be for jayo to play the away games and the home games against the better sides (until lucas is back, we really have missed him), wigan wouldnt not come into this bracket.
the kids will never get blooded then mate, we dont seem to have that type of conversion in this team. we arent going to finish in the top 4 now, if we dont blood them now - when is the right time?
I agree with you that we should be able to beat Wigan without a holding midfielder but unfortunately I could see all 3 going forward and Wigan getting a goal from one of their midfielders running in the space and scoring like Bolton did. I think only Gerrard would be able to play a defensive role but I dont thin k he is discplined enough or happy to sit back. I think if you play a 4-3-3, you need at least 1 player to sit back, assuming that the wingers will be more attack minded than if they were in a 4-4-2. Ah maybe I'm thinking too tactically. Utd seem to be doing ok without a defensive midfielder I suppose.
Over in London the weekend. Anyone know any pubs that show 3pm games and will have the Wigan game on? Help much appreciated.
Reina Flanagan Coates skrtel Enrique Shelvey gerrard Henderson Suarez Carroll Bellamy Subs: Doni carragher Robinson Spearing sterling Downing kuyt Would love to see this team or something similar but I'd say it's miles off
Judging by the comments of Steve Clarke on LFC tv this evening. We are very unlikely to see Martin Kelly against Wigan. Is Jon Flanagan the only option to play at left back?
Did you mean right back? Flanagan could be the only actual right back we have fit. Not sure I'd want Carra at right back with Moses likely to be running at him.
really doubt the team to set up like this but would like to see reina flanno coates skrtel jose(once he's had a kick up the hole!) spearing shelvey henderson maxi gerrard suarez bellamy/carroll
