Is the audio lead a red and white one ? Also try plugging it into the microphone socket on the laptop

Think VGA will only give you picture.
The Aux lead from the laptop to the TV must be line in or Aux input on the TV.

If possible hook up a HDMI cable instead

    Hope that helps

Laptop doesn't have a hd outlet, yep it's a red and white one. Have tried putting it into the microphone slot too. What's the aux Lead??

Think "might" be cable that goes from Earphone/speakers outlet on the laptop and either goes into audio in or splits for channel or something. Had to get one for my laptop before. Was for when used the VGA one but god HDMI one now as well but aint used it in ages :(

With the VGA connected, it has to be the single cable from the headphone jack on the laptop, to the AUX on the TV... not every TV has one afaik...

Figured better to put this question here rather than star a new thread.....

I am looking to hook up my laptop to the telly in the bedroom and the basstid telly doesnt have a VGA socket. It has a HDMI socket, but the laptop only has a VGA socket.

So..... is it possible to get a cable that hooks up VGA to HDMI? I'm not looking for award-winning picture quality, once is watchable I'm happy.

    Thanks in advance :)

aye, but when i googled it there was some fecker on a forum saying that VGA to HDMI might not work as its analogue to digital.
I don;t even have a bean what that means

Wonder would the VGA to RGB be a safer option? Cant see Peats taking the cable back once I've opened it and tried it either

Ah right, I just presumed it would work. You could always bring the laptop into Peats and I’m sure they’ll have a few cables out loose that they could try before you buy.

I bought a HDMI cable in Peats last year and in fairness the salesman was sound. I had picked up an expensive HDMI cable and he asked me what I was using it for, when I told him he said I didn’t need to buy such an expensive one and recommended another one for cheaper. The cable he recommended works perfectly and picture and sound is top notch.

Failing that, this could be worth posting in the ELVIS IT thread.

Sound, cheers for that mate! Yeah I reckon i might just do that and pop in with it next saturday if I'm still uncertain by then.

Will lump it into the Elvis thread as well, worth a go! :)

The VGA to RGB is only 7 euro
The VGA to HDMI is about 35 euro

but not sure if either of them will work yet

I'd go with a tenner for each cable. You were royally ripped off paying 35quid for a HDMI cable :D
