    Masters Tournament
    Augusta National GC,
    Augusta, Georgia
    April 05 - 08

After hearing last night at Doral that Rory McIlroy is now taking a 3 week break before going straight into The Masters I thought I would open up The Masters Thread.

McIlroy best priced 9/2 with Boyles as Powers/Ladbrokes have him at 4/1. Paddy Power may run an enhanced price of 5/1 for a day on the monday/tuesday of the Masters week but I say 9/2 is the best you will get on Rory at present so it may be worth taking now.

Hard to see past Rory in this but is he value at 9/2? Even 5/1? I suppose he must be backed.

4/1 across the boards now, surely someone will put their neck out and offer an enhanced price on the monday/tuesday of the Masters week. 4/1 is very short, not much value at all.

If anyone is a fan of Padraig Harrington then now is the time to back him for August. He's leading the Transitions championship, -8 after 16 holes!

If he maintains that kind of form his odds for Augusta will halve. He's currently 66/1 with Paddy Power.

50s with Powers now and 45s with Boyles. The major to watch Harrington in this year is the USPGA in Kiawah Island. The scene of his World Cup win with McGinley.

Paddy Power now offering places 1-6 on the each way terms. Alot of price changes in the 50-100/1 bracket. Harrington back out to 66s.

I doubt Padraig will qualify. Money back then I suppose?

Surely PP will go 6/1 Rory at some stage beforehand?

What's everyone backing? Any tips? I'm going Day myself and then might have a few quid here and there, and a long shot just for interest.

Isn't Harrington exempt from qualifying for Majors for another few years
    at least.

While I think Rory will be there or thereabouts on the Sunday I wouldn't
go near him at 4/1.6s might tempt me.

The Master 2013 is the last year of Padraig's exemption. He is in the field.

Great price. I see KJ Choi & Anthony Kim cut after Day 1 at Bay Hill. I say prices will be cut each of the 4 days at Bay Hill this week & next week during the Heuston Open. Best to keep an eye out now for the golfers you fancy & get on them with Paddy Power who are places 1-6 now.

I presumed he was out as they showed a stat last week saying his ranking was 89 and that he needed a good finish to qualify. I suppose he would be playing this week if that were the case. Still I can't see him doing anything much.

I dont think so Fran, thats normally The Open they go places 1-7 on the week of the event. The Masters is a smaller field I think Paddy Power have gone places 1-6 a week or 2 early as its normally the week of the event they add in the extra place. I cant see Boyles going 1-7 and Ladbrokes definitely wont so I say 1-6 places is the best each way you will get.

Rory McIlroy is out to 9/2 again with Tiger into 4/1 on account of his impressive
showing at Bay Hill. It's difficult to look past those 2 at the moment.

I think Tiger is finding form at the right time, would be a great final pairing, come the Sunday. My money's going on Tiger.
