its a shame really but guess we are going to make into the next round and sky have made a hug blunder by showing us thumping them into submission.

True, just a shame that we need to even consider the misfortune of other teams :)

I suppose the next demand, will be that we "hand" them over 5 players, as a "nice" gesture. Sure, we don't really need them of course.

I'd love it, if we handed out another "Besiktas-style" home win to them, love it!! That would shut them up fairly quick. :)

I'd give them Riise, Kuyt, Voronin, Big Sami and Itanje if needed too.

First 3 agreed, but i'd keep the last 2 for cover for injuries!

Was watching all the goals of 2007 last night on TV.
Kuyt used to be able to score goals as well, i think Rafa must have knocked it out of him by turning him into a work horse.

Steady on mate, we can do better than that ...

Anthony Le Tallec (he's only on loan remember !) for a start !

( and there's one or two others HERE )

I'd be a bit slower to hand over the 5 you've named, to be honest I'd be inclined to hang onto Sami & Itanje a while longer until we've better replacements, while we could get a few quid in the transfer market for the first three me thinks.

Regarding Kuyt, thats how I remember him too ... a goal scorer, just do a few searches on the internet and you'll see a fair few goals from open play when he played in Holland for example.

Sadly, Rafa has a bit of a habbit of deciding what position he wants a player to play in, regardless of whether it's the players preferred position etc. Take our Captain for another example - spent the guts of a season out on the wing for no good reason imho.

I can only imagine you do some clearing out of squads when you start up a new game of Football Manager :)

To be honest I wouldn't get rid of any of the above, not til the end of the season anyway. Sami has been some servant for the club over the years and deserves better respect than saying you'd shift him off to the likes of Luton! And what has Idtange ever done wrong when given the chance between the sticks? Admittedly Riise, Kuyt and Voronin haven't being firing on all cylinders this season, but their handy lads to have in reserve, and you just know that injuries will strike in the second half of the season and we'll really need these lads to come in.

Sami has been a great servant to the club was been sarcastic about him but the rest i have my reservations about including Itandje espeically if Reina got injured. I wouldn't sell to Luton of course that was a bit cheek as we need to the money

I know what ya mean, but surely thats the way every club would feel about playing the reserve keeper. The days have gone when we had 3 keepers on our books who were all capable of playing 1st team football. Look at Chelsea, I doubt they are too impressed with seeing Hilario between the sticks for them.

Modern day football dictates that you can't have two top class keepers at a club, cos the guy who ain't getting his game is just going to move to another club to get a game. Idtange ain't world class, but I have seen improvements as the season goes on - like him coming out to punch the ball in a very much Reina-esque fashion. I wouldn't be looking to get rid of him just yet.

With Itandje, every game he has played he has got better, i remember the reading match and thought o lord what the f.

But since then he is doing ok, reina is obviouly teaching him a few things, in 1on 1 situations he stands up big like reina, punches the ball like reina. Dont get me wrong he aint world class but he aint as bad as people make out

Yeah i quite like Itanje tbh,hes fairly versatile and very similar to Reina. He made a nice few good saves against Luton with LFC magazine saying he would have been man of the match had it not been for Carragher.Damn Carragher always taking the spotlight !!

    Blackwell resigns

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/l/luton_town/7183317.stm

Luton Town manager Kevin Blackwell has resigned from the financially stricken League One club which is currently in administration, it has emerged.

Blackwell will depart after the home game against Bournemouth on 9 February, reports BBC Three Counties Radio.

His assistant Sam Ellis and head coach John Carver will also be leaving.

The administrator has agreed to sell key players without consulting the management. Five players have left while three others are under offer.

3CR sports editor Simon Oxley said: "The club's in a state of chaos.

"The administrator has accepted an offer by an unnamed club for goalkeeper Dean Brill and Calvin Andrew is considering an offer from Plymouth.

"[Blackwell, Ellis and Carver] have read out a prepared statement effectively giving a month's notice.

"They don't want to walk out but they've had enough of players leaving."

Midfielder David Edwards, 21, is joining Wolves for £675,000 and defender Chris Coyne, 29, heads for Colchester for £350,000.

Midfielder Ahmet Brkovic, 33, has made his loan move to Millwall permanent.

Lewis Emanuel and Ed Asafu-Adjaye have gone on loan to Lincoln and Salisbury respectively, while bids have been lodged for three other players.

You wonder at this stage if they'll even show up next Tuesday night. Sad state of affairs.

    Sure is,
I seriously hope that does not happen to them .. terrible for the remaining players I know, but not the end you'd wish for anyone.

Mind you, I'm also praying they don't turn up with the "nothing more to lose" mentality and cream us !

    - Fingers crossed mate.
