Andre Villa-Boas has parted company with Chelsea Football Club today.

The board would like to record our gratitude for his work and express our disappointmentthat the relationship has ended so early.

Unfortunately the results and performances of the team have not been good enough and were showing no signs of improving at a key time in the season.

The club is still competing in the latter stages of the Uefa Champions League and the FA Cup, as well as challenging for a top-four spot in the Premier League, and we aim to remain as competitive as possible on all fronts.

With that in mind we felt our only option was to make a change at this time.

With immediate effect Roberto Di Matteo has been appointed first team coach on an interim basis until the end of the season.

Fair play to Chelsea, if you lose a few games the obvious solution is to sack the manager.

Anyone who takes that job on while Abramovic is there needs looking at.

Please God Rafa wont look twice at it. He's more intelligent than that.

Feel sorry for Villas Boas, he made a mistake taking that job.

Get Delboy Trotter down Chelsea and get the old guard shifted before a new manager comes in.

Anyone think that Roman and Jose could swallow their pride and work things out with Jose joining at the end of the season with someone taking over until the end of the season in the meantime. Whatever happens I really hope they don't get Rafa.

To add to the player power, Terry as player manager till the end of the season.
Want your head examined to take that job in plasticville. Only up side to it is youre virtually a cert to earn 4-5 years money in a year (or less)

The fact that di matteo is taking over for rest of season means rafa wont be going there. Have a feeling the russian and the special one have kissed and made up behind the scenes.

Hadn't noticed the bit about Di Matteo taking on the 1st team coaching till the end of the season. Honestly cant understand why clubs do that. Wolves did the same, bumping up Terry Conor to the hot seat. If the players had problems with the management style under AVB I fail to see how appointing his number 2 as boss is going to gain anything in the dressing room...not that I'm in any way worried, personally I hope they lock the door and batter the bejesus out of each other from now till the end of the season.

David james was taking the piss out of john terry on tele there.
Gave his opinion on seeing terry at 20/1 in the betting for chelsea manager..and said hes surprised that terry is not in the running for England manager as well!
