Doing my back garden up, putting in grass, right now I'm looking for prices on topsoil and garden sleepers and Indian sandstone, anyone know where to get a good deal on these?
Back just in time (I think?) for some questions regarding fruit trees. Have a plum, and eating apple tree in the back garden. Both about 7 years old. Apple tree is only about 5ft tall but produces fruit like you wouldnt believe. Over 100 fist sized sweet apples last year. So much so it is weighed down with them. The plum tree is about 12ft tall, and built like Peter Crouch and last year was its first year bearing any fruit - an amazing return of 4 plums. Questions I have are. 1. The apple tree, when can I thin the branches, to slow the fruit on it (afraid the fruit weight is going to stunt it) 2. Which branches on the plum can I trim back to encourage more fruit. Some places say the interior branches, others the exterior branches. Also if I top the branches will that make the tree "fill out" or kill it?!? I'm not really looking to kill it here folks. This IS the time to trim them yes?
Cleaned out glass house washed all the glass Whats next? Want to try tomatos this year whats the best variety and when should I sow.
Maybe the wrong thread i'm looking to get a Dog run with a roof and a built in kennel. Does anyone know where the cheapest place is to get one ?
having problems with drainage in the back garden. The garden is always wet and holds the water someone told me the soil is called 'marle' and its very sticky and heavy. Is digging a trench/large hole with drainage and stones covered over in soil the answer?? Any advice would be great!
November to February/March is fruit-tree pruning time, pruning the trees improves the quality and size of the fruit.
