Spearing NOT A CHANCE. Admire the lad, always gives 100% but he is nowhere near good enough for our first 11

Thought the same last season but have been impressed with him this season.

Who else will play the defence mid role then ?

    We may see Henderson ?

You're taking a chance starting this pal ha ha.

I don't think king will go with 5 in midfield, 442 i reckon like yesterday with Carroll and Suarez up front. I also think downing will start, along with Bellamy coming in for Adam and Henderson pushing into the middle.

I'd go with that team also Rocco, it 'could' blow them away. My only concern would be if we are looking a goal or something different from the bench we don't really have an impact player. Kuyt, Downing and Maxi would probably be the options but they lack pace and/or x factor

would be thinking along the same lines myself too. Maybe not certain about Bellamy but yeah Henderson and Downing will definitely start imo.

Think it will be 442 myself but hate it with a passion so always put down 4231/433 .
May see Bellamy from the bench since he was carrying a knock v Brighton , with Downing on the left ...
And jay on the bench with Henderson getting the nod.
Team i picked is what id like to see , id have plenty of faith in jay with Gerrard along side him.

Yeah I think I'd have Henderson and Stevie in the middle with Adam the one to miss out. Downing and Bellamy on the wings with Carrol and Luis up top.
Very attacking line up but that's the way to go on a wide open pitch like Wembley. Get the ball out to Bellamy and Downing as much as possible and let them run at Cardiff.

Spearing is just too limited a player, his passing has been awful and I also think the occasion could get to him.

I agree with you Bez Bing. Play our best 11.

Would this be too attacking? For a championship side in a final, I don't think so.

    ______Pepe_______
    Glen Agger Skrtel Jose
    Bellamy Gerrard Adam Downing
    ____Suarez and Carroll_____

We can always bring on Henderson and Spearing to shore up a lead or if it isn't working.

I don't fancy Spearing starting. He's seriously not up to the standard of starting in a cup final, in my opinion. At times he lacks confidence and it comes through in his game. As the previous poster has said, his passing is awful and he might get a bit overwhelmed in Wembley.

We have a habit of winning things the hard way. I would take it if we brought home the cup but would love a 3-0 coast tbh.

Agree with that team except having Adam and Gerrard together in the middle. As a combination in a 4-4-2 I don't think they work. I would put Henderson in there instead of Adam.
I think Henderson will be suited to big open pitch at Wembley too. He has a great engine on him.

With Bellamy record against ex-employers this season would be amazed if he didnt start.

On Spearing I think his passing, on the whole, is quick and forward (without being spectacular). Admittedly he was very poor on the ball against Spurs (when afforded time to make simple passes) and obviously cost us a goal against Utd (but for me that was more of a brain freeze in trying to pass through a man than lack of technical ability).

For me a bigger issue is that he doesn’t know how to move to receive the ball; you’ll often see him standing behind opposition players, removing himself from the game, when one of our CBs has the ball.

I wouldn’t be surprise at all if he started (nor disappointed either way). What would surprise me would be if Downing, Bellamy, Suarez and Carroll all were in the starting 11 as mooted by some on here – just cant see us going with such an offensive line up and a 2 man midfield.

I agree.. Probably wont see Downing and Bellamy start together on Sunday. Perhaps we'll see Downing on the bench

Mark Clattenburg is to referee Liverpool's Carling Cup clash with Cardiff City at Wembley.
