So what 23 would you bring and why. All debate and moaning in here. The actual make-up of the Squad will be,

    3 GK's

    8 DF's

    8 MF's

    4 CF's

How do we know that's what the make up of the squad will be?

I read this morning in the Indo that Trap will name his final 23 Monday week May 7th. For some reason i thought it would be later than May 7th. Anyway a lot of talk McCarthy and Coleman won’t make the cut which i find strange considering he said the squad who got us there will more or less all go. Would i be right in thinking the squads during the qualifiers had more than 23 in them so?

    Yeah, 26man squad for qualifiers.

As long as McLean goes I'm good with whoever else. Oh acutually also as long as Paul Green doesn't get on the plane. Useless fcuker he is.

Coleman has done nothing this season. McCarthy might sneak in.

There will be war if McClean is not in there, can just picture Tommy Gorman interviewing him on six one news when Duff pulls out with a hammer two days before and McClean refuses to go... 'take me back, what do you mean... take me back'

Half the squad have done nothing so you just don't know with Trap! Paul Green could well travel!

I think Paul Green will travel, Trap is very loyal to the players who he's comfortable with and unfortunately Green is one of these.

I dont think Coleman will make it but think McCartht and McClean will.

I hope McClean goes but if he doesn't I won't be losing any sleep. If trapp thinks he can use him he'll go and if he doesn't then he won't. That simple as far as I'm concerned. There won't be an ulterior motive, just the manager picking what he thinks is the right squad. And by taking us to the euro's he's earned the right to do that without a national post mortem before a ball is even kicked. There will obviously be debate but I hope the nation(media included)get behind everyone that is going instead of showering the squad with negativity.

    John O Shea
    Stephen Kelly
    Darren O Dea
    Ciaran Clark
    Seamus Coleman

    7 Midfielders

    Glenn Whelan

Ian Harte on sky today talking about his chances and I'm not sure if I heard correctly but he said trapp only found out he was Irish this year. Surely he'd have a list of every player eligible for us playing at any decent level. Sure isn't there one in the star on a Monday. I find it hard to believe but rediculous if true. Then he said that "at least he's Irish and a lot of the lads in the squad aren't". Showed a lack of class there imo. You can publicise yourself without attacking other players in the squad.

McLean has to go.. it's as simple as F'ing that. If Trap doesn't pick him its a disgrace, and i would never question Trap, since he has wonders for us. But McLean is the real deal, and i would love if Kenny would go after him this summer.

Who is Murphy playing in goals for now even midg23? At least playing paddy kenny is playing premier league week in and week out. Wouldn't look too much into keepers anyway, since Given will probably play all the games anyway.

The rest really picks itself. It's great that we have for once, a few options up front - in Keane, Doyle, Walters, Long etc. Happy days

Yeah, he's a plank for saying that. Sounded like a certain someone a decade ago...no place for it.

James McCarthy had a great game yet again for wigan yesterday.
Has been a big influence in Wigans climb out of the relegation zone, will it be good enough for Trap?

He was excellent against United a few weeks back. He is by far our best centre-mid, he actually wants the ball off other players - most of our other centre mids are not comfortable on the ball.

If we hadn't of signed Henderson, I would of liked us to of got him last season.

According to a press report they read on the premiership last night he is bringing seven defenders, four centre mids, four wingers and five strikers along with the three keepers.

Wilson should def be in the squad, been playing well for stoke week in week out and can cover a number of positions across the back and in the middle.

Ideal type of player for a tournament.

Same could be said about Ciaran Clarke for Villa. Don't think either will make it myself.

McClean confirmed by Trap to be getting the nod, he says he needs a 'lucky' player in his squad. :D

If he is bringing 7 defendders, 8 midfielders and 5 forwards which is a bit lobsided imo then I reckon McShane will get the last defensive spot but imo it should go to Clarke or Wilson as they are more versatile.

I think in Midfield Coleman will miss out with McCleans inclusion and I don't know who will get the last spot. I would go for McCarthy and Fahey but Gibson is playing regularly in the prem so he might get the nod over Fahey.

The 5 strikers pick themselves but Cox has only started 6 times for West Brom this year so it might be more beneficial to bring an extra midfielder/defender.

Trap knows best, all I know is that this day six weeks some square in Poznan will be painted Green.

    Goalkeepers
    Given
    Westwood
    Forde

    Defenders
    JOSH
    Dunne
    Ward
    O'Dea
    Kelly
    St. Ledger
    McShane

    Midfielders
    Whelan
    Andrews
    McClean
    McGeady
    Duff
    Hunt
    Gibson/McCarthy/Fahey (2 from 3)

    Forwards
    Doyle
    Keane
    Cox
    Long

I heard Fahey is really struggling with the injury he has and is unlikely to make it.

Anyone else consider bringing 2 keeper and an extra outfield player?
