As it says on the tin i am looking to set up a Web so anyone who knows the how-do please help a silly auld bollix
No doubt there'll be a lot of people posting on this thread, with more experience than me .. but to get started: 1. Do you have a website url registered ? From what I know, it's preferable to have the .ie if you are intending to market something in the Irish market, but therafter the .com is vital. As a rule of thumb, the .ie address will be more difficult to register and cost circa €50 per year, whereas the .com will cost about €10 per annum and is easily registered. Obviously, if your looking at the UK, then the .co.uk is worth going for etc etc. 2. Do you have a hosting company signed up ? I've used www.LetsHost.ie in the past and found them pretty good. www.GoDaddy.com are also well established and considered reasonably good, from what I've heard. http://www.blacknight.com/ have also been mentioned a fair bit of late, by a couple of mates of mine and all seem pretty happy. If your really looking for something with bells & whistles on it, then you may want to engage someone like this - though no doubt it'll cost you a bit more: http://www.webtrade.ie/website-services For the record, I've absolutely no vested interst or other reason for naming any of the above companies btw, just a relatively happy punter.
