just recently been made one of the 14% unemployed......again (Construction)
Been looking at FAS website re employment. Have notice a lot of jobs are for interns. €50 a week on top of your social. Whippie

Anybody know anything about these ? Can they lead to full time employment? Are they worth doing or considering? All internships are for 9 months. In the construction game if you go to do one of these internships your effectivly taking yourself out of the work market for 9 months. Then you may have to start all over again.

Started a 9 month intership back in May last year and was takin on as a full time employee there 3 weeks ago.

Depends what company you get I think and also how much you want it.

    Good Luck

Very sorry to hear that Joe.

I presume you are talking about JobBridge: http://www.jobbridge.ie/.

It's faced criticism, for example: http://www.thejournal.ie/readme/col...ted-–-there-are-some-quality-offers-in-there/

The unfortunate thing about JobBridge is some employers (allegedly) use it for free labour. I have seen jobs advertised on it that provide no useful training whatsoever to an individual. It's unfortunate because it's a good idea, if implemented correctly.

However, I would still recommend you look into it. There are good employers using JobBridge, but I reckon you need some luck to find the right ones.

Anyway, the very best of luck mate.

EDIT: Just saw Dave/dk.lfc post - so there's an example of it working out brilliantly. As Dave says "depends what company you get".

    Am I eligible?
In order to be eligible to participate in JobBridge – the National Internship Scheme an individual must be:

And have been in receipt of Jobseekers Benefit, Jobseekers Allowance or signing for Social Insurance Contribution Credits for a total of 3 months (78 days) or more in the last 6 months.
