A Manchester United fan has been banned from football matches for three years for shouting racist abuse at a Stoke City player during a match.

Howard Hobson of Weaver Walk, Openshaw, Manchester, was at Old Trafford for the game against Stoke on 31 January.

Trafford Magistrates Court heard he directed comments to Kenwyne Jones, a player who originates from Trinidad.

Hobson, 57, pleading guilty to a single charge of a racially-aggravated public order offence.

Manchester united the club that prides themselves as being perfect only gives this supporter a 3 year ban. They have made such a issue over racism really and it was our player who suffered they really should have banned him for life.

Love to know who decided 'he wasnt a supporter of either team'.

I'm guessing he said in court that he doesnt support City?

And then thats reported by The Guardian as a "fact".

On the one hand, I'd be saying he's in the home end and he abused a liverpool player racially. So therefore its man city's problem.

But truthfully, ya just get bellends like that at every match. Regardless of who they claim to support.

When it happens at Anfield, its reported as "yet another racial slur on liverpool".

When it happens anywhere else, its just briefly reported and wiped under the carpet.
