Hi all, sorry to start a new thread.
I am completely confused, one web page says one thing, another says the opposite.

Does TCP/IP exist in the OSI model(layer 4).
If not, then what are they both used for.
    Ie, TCP -e-mail.

    been years but:

tcp is layer 4 for transporting data between the model and IP is in the network layer (3) which deals with address and routing of traffic.

You mentioned email that uses both the transport layer and the application layer (7).i think

Again its been years and i must look over my notes as i am scheduled to do a ccna course soon as this is the basics :(

Thanks, it was TCP/ip and TCP that confused me.

Took me a while to realise TCP/ip is a model and TCP is a protocol
