Absolutely buzzing for this one. Have a feeling the proverbial roof will be raised like hell on Wednesday.
Silva will be back for them and that makes them a much better team and he will look to play between our midfield and defence. We saw yesterday how exposed we got there. Hopefully Spearing is fit as we need him to get his tackles in. We will need to score a goal if we are going to go through. City have to come at us to get a goal, so we should look to stretch them with Downing and Bellamy when we have the ball and when they lose it around our box and we are on the counter smack. The supporters can make a big difference. ---------------------------------Reina -----Johnson---------- Skrtel------------ Agger---------- Enrique---------- ---------------------Henderson---------Spearing------------------------- --------Bellamy------------------Gerrard----------------------Downing ---------------------------------Carroll---------------------------------
Id be Suprised if Bellamy Plays on wednesday after playing yesterday. One thing is for sure, we need some on to sit in front of that backline and protect it. Also we can not invite city on to us, as we will be punished big time and i think we will lose.Go out there and Plan with Passion, Commitment and we will be fine i think.
It will be a nervous night for sure. When you look at our two (non) performances since the first leg, I think the crowd will be more than edgy. Look at how well citeh played today, fantastic at times (as were spurs to be fair) that would put the squits up any red. Big night in more ways than one for a few players, another poor showing and I can see three or four on the transfer list before midnight Wednesday. We have to get at them the same way as the league game at Anfield last year.
--------Reina-------- Kelly Skrtel Agger Enrique -------Spearing------- ---Gerrard-Henderson-- Bellamy----------Downing ---------Kuyt---------- That would be my line up personally. I think Carroll will start though and Bellamy will be on the bench.
A real dilema for Dalglish with this one. We have only one way to play at present and have no real options to mix it up. If we sit back and invite them on they will score and with their tails up and squad strength could get another. However with an Anfield really gunning for some sucess we may see that European atmosphere for this one. We don't have a big competitive squad and only have a few positions up for question. I thought Skertel and Agger were poor against Bolton but have generally been strong all season so see no change required. Glen Johnson just doesn't seem capable of stringing performances or form together so I'd have him out for the better defensive style of Kelly. I have no idea what we should put out in midfield but what we need is someone to sit in front of the back four and break up their play. Is Jay Spearing fit because if not we are struggling! Is Carragher a possibility in that role these days? Can we afford Gerrard to sit thus losing penetration further up the park. Is Adam capable of playing in such a big game. Can Henderson do the holding role? I think our best two centrally are Henderson and Gerrard give us legs and drive. I think we need a real workmanlike performance from the team and don't see us playing open and expansive football. The best options for us wide would be Downing on the left and Kuyt on the right. Kuyt has been poor all season but he has legs and we would be wanting him to produce without the ball if needed. That leaves the role behind Carroll and we have few options. Bellamy if fit, Shelvey could do a job, Maxi is capable and even Adam would be suited in a less defensive role? Without any real options I'd go with;- Reina Kelly Skertel Agger Enrique Henderson Gerrard Downing Shelvey Kuyt Carroll I imagine we'll be 4-5-1 and Bellamy could be used as an impact sub if he has 20mins to give us.
Johnson was poor no doubt on sat but will, quite rightly, not be dropped. He is, in my opinion, the best rb in the league. Also as much as I like Kelly and see Jim as first choice rb one day I thought he was awful against city last time so don't understand tbd argument to bring him in
i think kennys reaction to bolton cold be a master stroke imo there will be a big reaction to it on the pitch against city and could prove a winner but it needs to be a huge inprovement and one or two changes kelly instead of johnson and leave bellers on the left and gerrard in his more natural positon to score
i dont think Johnson should start against City. Sure he can attack but we are playing City, we need someone who can defend first then attack. Reina Kelly Agger Skrtel Enrique Stevie Shevey Henderson Bellamy Carroll Downing 4-3-3 that can revert to a 4-1-4-1 with Shelvey doing the defensive work. We need to get at them from the off, ideally what would happen is we score an early goal. Then they'd really have to come at us, we could hit them for more.
i dont think we will win this one but a draw is all we need i can see a 1-1 here and that will be enough for us to go through
few of the lads are playing basketball Sorry i got caught up in this and something else. ment to say they will be at Anfield tomorrow
I'm not 100% sure but I think away goals come into play after extra-time if teams are still level on aggregate. For example if City are winning 2-1 on the night after extra time (2-2 on aggregate) they will go through on away goals. Hard to call this one. If Spearing isnt fit we are in trouble, we need someone to screen the back 4. If we give Silva et all the space in between our defence and midfield like we gave Bolton, we could be in for a trouncing. Gerrard isnt disciplined enough to play this role, similarly Henderson isnt defensive enough, Adam isnt good enough, so basically we need Spearing. The team he picks will come down to whether Kenny is happy to play for a draw or go for a win. If he plays for a draw, kuyt will surely play and Bellamy will be on the bench. Downing should also come in instead of Maxi. I'd go with -------------------------Reina---------------------------- Johnson (Very tempted to play Kelly), Skrtel, Agger, Enrique ----------------------Spearing------------------------ Kuyt-----------Gerrard----------Henderson-------Downing ----------------------Carroll------------------------------
away goals come into play at the end of extra time. if spearing isnt fit for wednesday i think we might see carra in that holding anchor role.
