I have my PS3 hooked up to the wireless Eircom broadband it the house. It picks up a decent signal 80/90% and the internet browser works fine for me (youtube, IK etc..)

When I got FIFA 12 first I went through the hole process of setting up and signing onto the EA Server so that I can play online against my friends. It set up perfectly for me and I have added my friends but when I invite them or they invite me to play a game it keeps saying that my connection to them has been lost.

Someone mentioned to me that this is happening because the firewall/security setting for our Eircom Broadband is set to high and that I have to turn it down lower or off altogether.

Anyone have this problem before or have any ideas of how to sort this out.

Its really doing my ****ing head in at this stage.

    Cheers

What connection speeds you have ?
Not sure what the requirements are, but could be an issue .

No idea what connection speed I have. No one else in the area seems to affected and they are Eircom also.

Dave, are you able to login to head to head sessions online and play random people no problem? If so, then the issue is got to do with trying to play people who are connect to a different EA server.

Last year when we were trying to setup a league on FIFA 11, I was getting that a lot when I was trying to play people, there was a cumbersome workaround when you setup a mutli team game with only two players opposing each other.

No Gary won't even let me play random people as it says the same thing "Connection failed".

Have a lad coming around to have a look at it tonight and he is fairly handy at this lark so hopefully he can spot the problem.

****ing fed up playing the CPU

Check what the nat setting is on your ps3 if it's 2 or 3 it's probably what's wrong, usually need it at 1 although sometimes works at 2 just google how to change nat setting on ps3 and it'll show ya, pretty easy to do, that's what was wrong with mine anyway. Sounds like the same problem I had.

Jesus I nearly lost the head last night.

I got the NAT setting down to 1 and went online and it was working grand. I played 2 matches online against randomers and then started a match up against one of my friends.

My house phone rings, Eircom landline, and it knocks off my connection. So I try to log back in and it says it can't find a connection and tells me to go to connection settings.

I run the connection test and now it can't even obtain a ****in IP address. I am just going to get the Meteor dongle.

Mine does the exact same thing, i fully understand your frustration!!!!

I used to be on eircom, worked fine.... then i changed to vodafone as it was cheaper, but kept the eircom box...... now it wont let me play games online, it will connect to the ea server, but just when you go to play a game it says your connection is lost!!! so f**king annoying!!!

Anyhow, ive been told its to do with the firewall settings, ive been meaning to ring vodafone the past 2 weeks but have'nt got round to it!!

Ive changed a load settings myself on this end though, but that changes nothing!

You'd do well to switch to the NGB service with Eircom
