Myself and the brother were having a discussion over Christmas about paying cash at the gate of the Old Kop. He thinks you had to buy a ticket to get in before they made it all-seater, I thought you could pay cash right up to the end as I definately remember doing that around 92/93. Hopefully some of the older lads here or the local lads who are on here occasionally could shed some light on this so I can collect my €20! Thanks
It cost me £9 cash at the gate to watch Liverpool v Arsenal in October '93. The queue started around 10am that morning. The seats were something like £13 in those days.
Only time I ever seen a ticket for the Kop was for the final game that season against Norwich, the last day of the Kop.
I remember being on the old Kop for the 3-3 game against the Mancs in '94 and I defo had a tkt.personally don't remember ever paying in to the kop.
I'll ask LKDave, I have a feeling he paid cash at the turnstile when he went!! Yes i did. For the Julian Dicks penno game V Ipswich. £9 or £11, forget which, onwards to the National afterwards. Funny the "hotel" i stayed in was also £10 for the night. Well it didn't have any light in fairness !!
Fair enough, but I was defo on the kop for at least 2 other games before that (spurs was 1 of them and king Kenny's return as Blackburn manager) and I don't remember paying cash. Lionel, sort it out.
Ha ha, if memory serves me right, Lionel wasn't going back in those days so he'd prob have to rely on google for the answer!!
Asked me dad there and he paid on he day Into the kop during the 70s/80s, only in the early/mid 90s did you has to have a ticket
I thought I recalled a conversation from the Sandon along those lines alright!! There's plenty here that seem to have been over those days so I think our opening post may have won his bet!
