I just noticed that we bet our old record of online users set on the last day of the transfer window last Jan.The new record is....
Most users ever online was 381, Today at 03:43 PM.
No wounder the site is running slow.

Seems to be a huge number all from the one ip address 109.78.25.224 - shows up as a vodafone ip but surely its a web crawler/spider?

That's dodgey. So we didn't break the record then.
Can you start a poll for all members, to say "were you logged in today between the hours of x & x" as It may be "logging" people in also. As the number of members logged on has been really high today, and its been all day. So seems really strange.

A % of all websites traffic is always web crawler/spiders,I will need to have a dig through the stats to see were the traffic was coming from.We most certainly broke the record,by how much is the question.

The setting was somehow change to allow a much longer long in,I am not sure how it was changed as I have done no work on that section of the site for a while.Anyway its fixed now,I am looking at the external google stats and we did break the record but by how much I have to try and work out.
