I don't know if there is any practical solution to this but basically I've moved into an apartment recently that has a rubbish small operator that provides the tv service and a lot of people have recently installed their own sky dishes! It's technically against the rules but I think they're kind of turning a blind eye to it because there is no genuine alternative! What I'd like to know is is there any way that you can get sky installed without having to drill holes in the wall to run cables through? The dish can be fit on the balcony but I can't drill holes in the outside wall! I realise that the obvious solution is to run a cable through the window but I don't fancy leaving a window wedged open with the cable running in it! If anyone has any suggestions at all I'd greatlu appreciate it, I've had my fill of Rte at this stage!
You should have opted for the shared dish solution. It would have meant everyone in your complex getting Sky without the eyesore of having so many dishes off balconies. That's what I have but in relation to drilling a hole in the wall you wouldn't even notice it.Mine runs along the skirting and leads to a terminal outside my apartment which is connected to the shared dish.It is really neat and I wouldn't even notice that it is there. The Sky technician will do a 1st rate job if you're getting it installed.
Thought you weren't allowed to have sky dishes at front of apt? Lad down stairs got his at front but its hidden by the column holding up my balcony, he's a miserable *** so I'm storing that titbit of info for future use Told the installer we weren't allowed to have them there, he didn't give a toss, too much hassle to hang out back and run wires through
That's a good call, never thought of that! They're only aluminium window grams do that should be fairly straight forward! @Carroll9 the management company are causing endless hassle because they signed up with this other 'operator' called and give them a 100% exclusive agreement so they can't allow a sky communal fish but are turning a blind eye to the individual dishes but it looks awful having them everywhere! Can't drill the wall as we're not allowed make any permanent changes to the externals and don't own the outside walls, it's a disaster!
That sounds like a crazy set up mate if you don't mind me saying so.I'd say that you can't go too far with Ben's idea.Of course you could drill and it probably wouldn't get noticed. What floor are you on?
Ed, is there an air vent for your apartment or perhaps a vent for the extractor fan in the kitchen and if so, can't the cable be brought in / out through one of these mate ?
