This young lad looks the real deal. Saw lots of clips of him and he looks the type that can be top class if he's at the right club. Only thing is, he would cost a fair whack now since there's about 9 premier league clubs in for him. I just wonder if we're one of them?
Seemingly Roy Keane Let him go from Ipswich for peanuts. Massive step up to the Premier League. Plenty of lads have been prolific in the lower leagues but could not make the step up.
I was thinking the same myself. League one but 25 league goals in 21 games ( + 7 more in 2 cup games !!! ), 5 goals last night and appearently half the prem was scouting him. He seems to know where the goal is alright. The way he's going his goals will get his team promoted which is remarkable stuff. Just looking at wiki there, Huddersfield Town On 31 July 2009, Rhodes signed for Huddersfield Town on a four-year contract for an undisclosed fee, becoming manager Lee Clark's sixth signing of the season.[8] Rhodes started the season well scoring six goals in his first six games at the club. He made his debut coming off the bench in the 2–2 draw against Southend United at Roots Hall on 8 August 2009, where he scored Town's equaliser.[9] He scored two goals on his home debut against Stockport County in the League Cup three days later.[10] In his next game on 15 August he added a further two goals to his tally in a 3–1 win over Southampton.[11] and then in Huddersfield's 4–3 away loss to Newcastle United in the League Cup second round. On 10 October, he scored a hat-trick of headers within eight minutes in a 4–0 victory over Exeter City,[12] which beat the previous record set by Dixie Dean in the 1930s.[13] Rhodes finished the season as Huddersfield's top goal scorer with 23 goals in all competitions. He was again their top scorer in 2010–11, despite limited appearances, Rhodes scored 22 in total. His goal/minutes ratio is roughly 1 goal every 130 minutes. Rhodes was listed at number 46 in FourFourTwo's Top 50 Football League Players Poll for 2010.[14] [edit] 2011–12 Rhodes begun the 2011–12 season with 13 goals in his first 12 games in all competitions. He was also the first Huddersfield player to score back to back hat-tricks since the 1920s, the two coming against Exeter City on 15 October 2011 in a 4–0 away victory and the in the 3–1 home win over Preston North End on 22 October 2011.[15] On 17 December, he scored all four of Huddersfield's goals in an away fixture which ended 4–4 against Sheffield Wednesday.[16]. He made his 100th league appearance against Chesterfield and scored. As of 6 January 2012, Rhodes has scored 33 goals in 29 games for club and country this season, managing to net the ball five times in a 6–0 win against Wycombe Wanderers, equalling the record for goals scored by a Huddersfield Town player in a match set by Dave Mangnall and Alf Lythgoe in the 1930s. He's 21 going on 22 and a cap for Scotland. Very interesting alright. I wonder how much he would cost ??
In general I agree with you. But not a huge amount of players have scored enough goals to get their team promoted which he is basically doing at the moment and you have to take a punt now and again, The best strikers are always naturals, this guy seems like a classic natural goalscorer. Someone is going to buy him in the window l'd imagine.
I said 3 weeks ago he would be a decent signing for any top end championship side, or for a side like Bolton or Wigan or Sunderland who are struggling to score goals.I dont think he is top 6 material yet, but he still has time on his side.West Ham were looking at him, but i imagine he wont go for a sniff of under 5 mill.Huddersfield are doing well this season, so he might stay on under Lee clarke and try get huddersfield in the championship.
And Ron, he signs for fulham let's say and does a demba ba, then his value goes up to £25m. It's a hunch I have, but I'd take a chance on this one. The penny has really dropped with him, and you could nearly write off what happened him at Ipswich, God knows what roy was saying to him.
I know highlights can make anoyone look like Maradona but this clip is pretty impressive. He seems to get goals all over the place, but seems to get a lot of headers ( from corners ) and seems to be fierce sharp in the box with first time finishes. He looks to me like a natural whereby all the goals look easy because he's made a super run and takes the finish first time. I'd say this lad is a serious talent and is easily Prem quality and will score goals in the Prem. The main problem with joining a club like Liverpool is that most teams throw everyone behind the ball at Anfield ( including the scum ) and that is a totally different game to score in and aditionally as Carroll is finding out the fan/media anlysis and related pressure is very severe and you need to grow a pair or score to deal with that but this lad looks like if he gets chances he'll bury them. SIMPLES. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FjKhfewSls8&feature=player_embedded#!
just been talking about this lad on goals on sunday and i think george burnley hit the nail on the head. Rhodes is at the age where he needs to be playing regularly and staying with hudderfield might be far more benefit to the lad then moving to the premier league and sitting on a bench
Who's George burnley? Fair enough, he could also be a Matt le tissier and never try play at the kind of level that maybe he should have.
Hi mate, Was watching that also and was thinking the solution here would be to buy him and loan him back out for a season perhaps ... Great minds think alike my friend
