South Yorkshire Police, working in partnership with Sheffield Wednesday, will be trialling crowd control segregation barriers on the Leppings Lane apron on Sunday 8 January at the FA Cup match v West Ham.

The barriers are to be trialled and then considered for use at the Steel City derby at Hillsborough in February.

Crowd control issues at Sunday's game are not anticipated but this match offers an opportunity to test the barriers in situ at a match where a large away support is expected before the second Sheffield derby this season.

Wednesday supporters occupying the South Stand for this weekend's cup-tie match should also be aware they will be unable to exit via Leppings Lane at the end of the game and should leave the ground through the car park via Penistone Road, or over the bridge on to Parkside Road and Catchbar Lane.

Sheffield Wednesday FC The trial barriers are for outside the ground, not inside. If you went to the derby match at Bramall Lane earlier this season they were used there so you will be familiar with them.
