The Swiss F.A. has deducted a whopping 36 points from F.C. Sion for fielding ineligible players to placate UEFA who were threatening to possibly expel Basel from the Champion's League & reinstate the scum. Opinions?
Great the mancs wont be geting back into the CL now 36 points is extreme alright 9 would have been acceptable and given them a chance
Without knowing the actual details it's hard to comment but if they did this knowingly then I don't have any issue with it. If something similar happened in the premier league and it was a blatant disregard for the rules imposed then I would expect a premier league club to be relegated to the championship! Failing that I think that they should forfeit every point they gained when the illegal players played. Honestly I really don't think there's any option but to really make an example of this!
I imagine they have deducted enough points, to ensure the team are relagated and as such, that is their true punishment for the breach ....
Yeah I would have thought 9 or 10 points would have been fair enough, but no doubt they will apeal this and maybe get it halved.
I knew I heard something on the lines of 3 points everytime one the the ineligible players played..harsh or not they know the rules and shouldn't have signed players they were not allowed to..should have kept their mouths shut instead of going to every different court
would of been extremely harsh had Basel got booted from the champo league on account of this. i think 36 points is too much to be honest 12 would of been fair i think. i don't think if celtic couldnt beat sion they didnt really deserve to get reinstated. although im just saying that because i would of loved to see one irish team in europe and no scottish one
I would rather see Sion get deducted 36 points than see the mancs reinstated into the Champions League whether the punishment fits the crime or not.
Not sure if this is true but Sion might not be automatically relegated even with their huge point deduction. The demise of Neuchatel Xamax could save them as normally the team finishes 9th in the Swiss league go into a play off with the team that finished 2nd in the lower league. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Neuchatel Xamax have been stripped of their license and kicked out of the Swiss Super League less than one year after being taken over by Russian businessman Bulat Chagaev. The Swiss Football League said in a statement on Wednesday that the decision was taken because the club was suspected of falsifying a bank document produced as a financial guarantee last year. "The Swiss Football League (SFL) has taken away Neuchatel Xamax's license for participating in championships organised by the SFL," the statement said. "The disciplinary commission has reached the conclusion that the conditions for the license are no longer met due to the non-presentation of financial guarantees. "The disciplinary commission is also convinced that the banking guarantee from the Bank of America was not provided by the latter." Swiss media have reported that the bank letter was littered with basic grammatical and spelling mistakes. Neuchatel have already had eight points deducted for irregularities in the payment of social security contributions and players' wages. Chagaev, a businessman who hails from the volatile region of Chechnya, bought the club in May saying he wanted to take Neuchatel into the Champions League. Since then, he has sacked four coaches, faced a boycott by fans and fired several players. He also sacked the entire administrative staff, leaving the club unable to print tickets for the opening game of the season, and parted company with all of the club's sponsors. Chagaev has in turn accused the media of persecuting him because of his nationality. The club, whose website made no reference to Wednesday's decision but which carries earlier statements saying they feel they are being attacked from many quarters, have five days to appeal. Neuchatel were formed in 1970 by the merger of two clubs and the team have won the Swiss league twice, in 1987 and 1988. Their expulsion means the Swiss league, which has reached the halfway mark, will be reduced to nine teams when it resumes in February. The season has already featured another top flight club, Sion, being deducted 36 points for fielding six players who were signed when the club was subject to a FIFA transfer ban. FIFA threatened Switzerland with an international suspension after Sion took their case to a civil court. To me it seems the owner is purposely fcuking up the club on purpose but why would he want to lose money..it's a strange one
No disrepect to any one on here, but most of those Owners from the eastern european countries are banana's.Like at your Man at Hearts, He is a nutter, Roman isnt quiet playing with the full deck and im sure there is a few more who own football clubs too.
