lads,i'm trying to connect a PSP up to the wifi in the house and i can't get it to work at all.i've never had a problem with any other device,i would just do a scan for a wifi network and it would pick up the house wifi. this yoke has me head wrecked,it wont detect the house wifi on the scan.it's detecting another network (probably one of the neighbour's) so the scan is obviously working. if i try to enter manually it's asking for the SSID (what the fook is that?),then it asks for the WLAN security setting (4 options-none,WEP,WPA-PSK (TKIP) or WPA-PSK (AES) ) haven't got a breeze what that is either. after that it's address settings-easy or custom. then IP adress setting-automatic,manual or PPPoE. then DNS setting-automatic or manual. then proxy server-do not use or use. then internet browser-do not start or start. then enter the connection name. haven't got a bleedin scooby what i'm doing, didn't have these problems with the PS3.
It's very strange that it's not picking up your network... The switch on the left of the PSP, are you sure it's flicked on? The SSID = the broadcasting name of your network... for example, on your laptop, the network you are connected to is the SSID (provided your connected directly to the router) WEP WPA These are types of security, so your security key to get into the internet, it varies from providers what they use, but it's more than likely one of the WPA's IP Address setting, set it to manual DNS - Manual Proxy, don't use Don't start the browser, and the connection name can be anything you like But again, strange that it's not picking yours up... but if you enter your SSID it should be ok
yeah the WLAN switch is on. on all the other devices in the house LILY-PC_Network comes up,is that the SSID? i've already entered that a few times but it hasn't worked..
Is LILY-PC a computer that's broadcasting the network for you? If not, it's the router, and you should google "model number and make of router - ssid broadcasting on" Hopefully that gives you a link to enable the SSID broadcast
No worries, right... If your on Windows 7 follow this... Get your laptop or PC that is connected to the WiFi, Down the bottom right of the screen, on the taskbar, you will see the signal bars or whatever they are, to show you are connected to a wireless network. Click that, and at the end, click "Open Network and Sharing Center" Now, you should see the "LILY-PC" or whatever it's called, the one your connected to. Right click "LILY-PC" and select Properties. Now, you should see the Name which will be LILY-PC and also the SSID, that's the one you need to type into the PSP exactly as it appears there. Now click Security, and you will see probably WPA, which is the type, and under it either TKIP or AES. Click show password then to see the password for logging into the WiFi. If it's not WPA, if it's "shared" or "open" then chances are it's a WEP key... Hope that helps...
The name and SSID are the same,LILY-PC_Network. Security is TKIP and the security key/password is xxxx-xxxx-xxxx. I had that password anyway, at least now I know I'm not doing anything wrong. It has me baffled,I scanned an iPod touch earlier and it recognised LILY-PC-Network straight away.
Ah that has me beaten so I'm afraid... any chance there is custom firmware on the PSP or anything, or do you know how to update the firmware from memory card...? You can get free games very easily on a PSP with custom firmware and a 2GB or more memory card http://pspcustomfirmware.com/how-tos-the-psp-ultimate-repair-guide-v1.htm You might find some information there on how to update the firmware, which might help the WiFi problem, it's a long shot but worth a try... You can download the latest official sony psp firmware which won't void warranty or anything like that
