I agree there is no defending it, the man is under pressure from abuse by opposing fans but why not be consistent with punishment.
Give Luis the same punishment that Neville, Beckham and Rooney got.

And if Luis had called evra a black ****, then by all means charge him and send him to court.

Actually believe that Tevez has caused more controversy and brought game into disrepute more than this case.

    He CONSISTENTLY does it.

I'm very sorry for my ignorance if I post the following.

Howard Webb is a racist against Scousers. FACT.

Whatever chance Luis had getting away with this went down the sink with the latest campaign against the racism ruling! The club were very childish and will have certainly rubbed the FA up thd wrong way! Hard to see him not getting a fine and possibly a few matches! Actually they will probably suspend 4 games of his other ban and then stick them back on with another 1 or 2 for this!

I wouldnt defend it either. Abuse from fans is part of the game and 99% of players are able to deal with it. Suarezs gesture shows his lack of discipline/self control after his tug at Rafaels hair + biting incident at Ajax, I was always afraid it would land him in trouble again.

Imo that bit of devil in him is a big part of what makes him so good. You take that away and you end up with Suarez from the wigan game. It seemed to me like he was going out of his way to stay out of any sort of controversy and as a result hadn't got that spark. Still a fine footballer in that mode but so much better when playing on the edge. Sometimes it will spill over but you accept it because of the benefits you reap for the rest of the time.

The finger thing is bullshit imo. If you're going to a football match and you claim to be offended by that then you're either offended for 90 mins by everything being said around you or you're a liar. He was lucky to get away with the hair pulling thing and the biting incident, well he was rightly punished for that even though the guy had stamped on him. It would be great if he could play on the edge without it ever spilling over into anything that gets him into trouble but it's incredibly hard to do if that's your character. That character also makes him the type of guy who will leave everything on the pitch and die for his team mates.

    LOL :D

Personally, I think Suarez has to be punished for this, but only to the same extent as many other players who have gone before him.

It was stupid act and I'm sure Suarez knew it a second after he did it. He's human and made a mistake, could have been anyone of us but now he's gotta do the time I'm afraid ...

It's just such a shame that it's occured so close to the whole racist issue, which will no doubt be linked and influence the punishment, although they are entirely seperate matters etc ....

No way he'll get a ban for this, most likely a fine and maybe a suspended ban. Silly thing to do, but harmless enough. I know he's a role model for kids, but most kids wouldn't have even seen it only for the FA charged him and it got publicity.
