RLOD (Red light of death) Fixed it recently for a friend of mine... I had to take it apart, get right down to the bottom of it... and there are 2 heatsinks there... I scraped off the old thermal paste, and put new paste on there, still works now. It basically means the CPU or GPU has overheated... afaik
Hi all, Same problem this evening with mine. Use it more as a dvd player, internet and barely ever for games. I think it is YLOD. Basically when I turn it on the green light comes on, turns yellow, then goes red and bleeps 3 times. Im technically challenged so I wouldnt take it on myself. Does anyone know of someone good and reputable in Dublin who can do it. An internet search showed these guys unless someone can recommend someone better. http://www.consolepros.ie/
Where are you in Dublin? If its a short trip for you to bray I can reccomend a place that are really good at fixing consoles
Hi Benji, Yeah based in Dublin, would be interested if you can recommend someone. I could get dart to Bray handy enough. Do you reckon one would be better off buying a new console, given I am not a huge gamer or trying to get it fixed. Ive read somewhere that repairs usually last 3-6 months tops.
Repairs do usually last that long, so depending on what it costs to fix then it might be better to buy a new one..console repairs is the name o the place anyway
Thanks Benji. Very helpful. Ill check that place out. PS4 is supposed out in about 7 months so a repair may not be a bad idea if it lasts til then. mind you Im far too old to be buying play stations now, especially when its used to watch tangled in 3d. thanks again
Yeah mine has been going downhill for a while now but I won't be able to afford a ps4, is tangled any good?
Might put it on tomorrow..for the kids Well I bought the ps3 when it first came out for 350 so I can only imagine this will be the same or even more
Benji thanks a million for your help. Rang the guys you suggested. Very sound and honest. They say they reflow rather than reball/ resoulder. The latter offers no definite fix and is more expensive. Ill drop it down to bray and see how it goes. Thanks again.

Thought I'd put this in here! Every time I try go to messages my play station freezes and I've to knock it off to start again! Anyone know why?
Playstation isnt registering any discs, dvds/games. Hasnt been used in awhile, but browser and the likes workin fine. Anybody any ideas?
