Gastón RamÃrez According to reports in Corriere dello Sport, we are leading the chase to get this guy in January. Think he's a smashing young player myself and will almost certainly take Forlan's place in the Uruguay team soon. Supposedly Chelsea are sniffing around too but I would think with us having Luis and Seb already that we would be favourites. Bologna might want to hold onto him until next Summer though as they're currently just above the relegation zone and losing their best player now wouldn't be ideal. Figures of about £14 million are mentioned.
Just did a search of the website of Corriere dello Sport's website and can't find any such story myself. The only reference I can find is about him teaming up with Luis Suarez in the recent international between Uruguay and Chile. I know the story you reported is out there in the media but the only newspaper that has reported it is 'The Daily Mail' and they have not even put a name to the writer of the story. Had a look for it on the CDS website myself but as you said it's not up to much. I'm assured by a friend that it appeared in the print version though! He's not a striker, more a no. 10 playmaker type, at a guess I'd say he's started maybe 25 or so of those 35 games for Bologna so it's a decent enough return as they're a dreadful team
After Liverpool’s success with Uruguayan recruits this year, Kenny Dalglish could dip into the market for a third time in January for 21-year-old playmaker Gaston Ramirez of Bologna. Here, the Life’s A Pitch panel assesses the latest Uruguayan poised to join Liverpool team-mates Luis Suarez and Sebastian Coates in the Premier League. “He’s a player that most of the top clubs in Europe will be aware of,†says the Independent’s Rory Smith of Liverpool target Ramirez. “He’s young and very, very gifted. But whether he’s ready for the Premier League just yet I’m not sure, and he’d cost a lot of money to be a substitute.†http://www.lifesapitch.co.uk/laptv/window-watch/liverpool-set-to-raid-uruguay-again/
Gaston Ramirez Seems the links with Ramirez are heating up again. Scored at Old Trafford yesterday a nice free kick. Anyone know much about him?
Would love this fella, fit the 4-3-3 perfectly. If we only have money for him or Allen take Ramirez all day as don't think we are short of quality in midfield.
i remember the lads on the redmen tv were saying they were at a press conference in anfield. they asked the club were we in for him and the club said we were not.
