Very true. Have to take a break from reading stuff on here and elsewhere sometimes with the tripe you have to trawl through esp. if we lose a game Gone are the days of supporting the team no matter what, for some instead they criticise all involved from behind a keyboard
To many of the modern fans and a lot on here are of the "I want a pony now Daddy" brigade. I'm still amazed that I seen somebody post in the Swansea thread the team deserved to be booed off, actually I'm probably not, the carry on on this forum and others over preseason games opened my eyes up wider than ever before to what our fanbase has become. The Internet has destroyed the game, to many fans have got totally carried away with the keyboard warrior persona. I seen last year 1st hand how our fans could unite together to achieve a goal, but it seems many seem to think they've a Devine right to instant success and a say in the running of the club, and IMO it'll only get worse.
ive a golden rule that i swerve all forums after a loss for about 12 hours.the amount of knee jerk reactions after losses are unreal people just have no patience anymore truckers right with the "i want a pony now" thing everything these days has to be instant.sky has a lot to do with it too the amount of lads i work with that are apparently big football fans but when ya get into a discussion its obvious they havent a breeze really because your just hearing what was said on super sunday the day before
It's all typical of modern society. I just do my best to ignore it and see the bigger picture. I always think back to the westham game in dec08 (I think) when we 'only' drew at home. Lots of boos from idiots all round the stadium. We had just went top of the league
Read that article this morning and it made me smile cos it's so true. The thing that annoys me so much about the modern fan is that they think they're expert scouts and have a strong opinion on someone we may/may not be signing. If it's a bad opinion of the player it's almost as if they're delighted to see them struggle in a red shirt just so they can say "look, told you I right, he is shite!". They should be ashamed of themselves, every player in a red shirt should get backed to the hilt and if they're struggling to settle in, then they should be backed even more.
I I think you'll find Bill Shankly never said that mate, Paul Rogers from LFC TV got himself into a spot of bother last week over putting it on twitter, and later removed all tweets about it after lots of complaints, including 1 that Rogers said "well that's what he would of said" seriously, and this bloke is involved in club PR!
I must say when i seen this quote knocking around after Swansea i thought it looked a bit odd alright and also it had never been mentioned before in any of the stories of his famous quotes
It shows up everywhere on the net that it's Shanks' quote. It's an easy mistake to make. Anyway, regardless of who's it is. Darren is right in what he says.
Last week I saw the question asked on the LFC Reds Gallery twitter feed? What manager said the above quote. I was trying to think who might of said it and Graeme Souness was the only manager that came to mind. So was very surprised the next day when Bil Shankly was given as the answer. I was amazed myself to see the above quote all over the internet but no context to it. I did not know about the Paul Rogers story. Plenty of great Bill Shankly quotes here http://www.shankly.com/article/2517 http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/latest-news/bill-shankly-in-his-own-words
Yea thought that myself allright but sure il edit it now and am sure you will all still agree with me..
