what year was it you got yer first top ? i cant mind the year exactly but it was yellow with the red pinstripe and i was young , was my first club top
Hmmm, the earliest I remember is having a wine and purple newcastle top with the brown ale logo on it...(my dad was a newcastle fan at the time). A google search tells me that was the 95-96 kit so I was 6-7
Had a red kit from dunnes with the liverbird around 93-94. But the first I remember is a 2nd hand candy shirt, with the 3 thick stripes over the shoulder in 95 I guess. First new, genuine, top was that Christmas
Have a real old one with Hitachi on it, dont no where it came from but it was down around me knees, got it in the late seventies with a Kilkenny one when they got wet it was like carring a ton on your back.
Mine was the last Candy one, got it in January 1991 for my birthday in Quinsworth Longford which is now a furniture shop I still remember where they were on display. Funny thing is I dont remember where it went to god I miss it.

Had the exact same one, and I found an old vhs tape from 23 years ago with me wearing the full kit at a birthday party, I was wearing an Opel tracksuit too don't know what that was about. Before that I had the crown paints one but it was my cousins and it was always too big for me. Those kits were never as expensive as they are these days.
stevieg - I got in in 96 when it was the 3rd kit. Only wore at Southampton (with green shorts!) And sunderland in the league cup. Still have it!
It wasnt an "official" top, but my first football related one was plain red with a white ring collar in 1973 with "Liverpool UEFA cup winners" on it.
we were living in england at the time and me da wanted to get me an ireland jersey but couldnt find any in the shops so closest he could get was celtic it was 85 i think the first liverpool kit i got was bought by an aunt in chorley it was the crown paints one in 86 when we won the double i still have it bit small now mind
I got a poxy Nottingham forest shirt for crimbo in 1979. I guess Santa thought I wouldn't know the difference. It was s€@t and I got slatted about it in school. Had to wait until 1989 to get a proper top - it's disappeared now which is a shame.
