Anyone see Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchants new show, started last night on BBC2? Its documentary style comedy about dwarf, Warick Davis playing himself, as well as merchant and gervais, trying to get work and get his life in order.

Very similar stuff to "Extras" with celeb cameos etc. Was a big fan of "Extras" and didn't see the start of this, was a bit hit and miss maybe but will watch again as the part with Liam Neeson was priceless. Was pissing myself laughin.

I thought that was the best part of the show Niall, the whole show was a bit short of laughs but maybe as it goes on Warwick gets funnier but Liam Neeson stole the show last night - the clips I seen of Johnny Depp look pretty funny too!

I think he's basically just put the two ideas behind the office and Extra's together and chucked in a dwarf too, hopefully it gets better as it goes though

Laughing just thinking about Liam Neeson in last nights show. Very cleaver. Stephen Merchant says to Neeson to hold back that he can't tell a joke about AIDS, that people will be uncomfortable and won't think it's funny ..... yet thats exactly what they do with LN as the shopkeeper !

I have to say, I wasn't finding it that funny but the scene at the end was classic comedy.

    For my thoughts read above.
I get the impression he wrote warwick davis as a Brent type character but I think he'll struggle to pull it off.

I thought it was good awfull tonight.

The Neeson bit was class last week but the show is self indulgent tripe.

Gervais is very much a one trick pony. I thought the Depp scene was very funny - nice digs at Gervais which is fair enough if he wrote it himself!! will prob watch it but I prefer Exras by far.

I agree... its so similar to The Office at times, its annoying. His mannerisms, his little glances to the camera, and the fact Warwick plays a character who believes he's more succesful and popular than he actually is.(Brent)

Thought the 2nd episode was crap too. Even Jonny Depp couldnt save it.... Although i did laugh at Warwick in the teddy bear outfit.

A definite improvement on the first episode anyway but still not up to Extras standard never mind the office. Scenes with Depp were a good laugh as are some of the ones with the secretary.

Heading to see Ste Merchant in stand up tonight. His first stand up tour. Doesn't strike me as a naturally funny type on his own. I'm just hoping its a Darren Lambe set but that is unrealistic thinking too. I'll report back.

Yeah, really poor. With all the scenes you always feel like you've seen it somewhere before. The Johnny Depp cameo was nowhere near as good as the Liam Neeson one.

Watched his Dvd last week. Thought it was really poor bar a little play at the end.

As regards lifes too short its been distinctly underehelming so far. Few mild laughs but that's it. Do like the secretary, in particular her facial expressions.

I enjoyed it mate, had a few pints on me so was giddy enough heading into the gig. He's well able to take the piss out of himself and audience members as well as being a cocky bollox when he wants to be. Good, solid entertainment for a tuesday night, I don't think he's naturally as funny as Gervais or Karl though.

On 'Lifes Too Short', the episode last night I thought was brutal. Zero laughs for me and even though its half the joke that Warwick is meant to be a prick, it doesn't work like it did with Any Millman and David Brent imo.
