Liverpool Football Club have confirmed the signing of Marc Pelosi from the DeAnza Force Club in California. The midfielder was captain of the United States U17 team who participated in*this year's FIFA World*Cup tournament in*Mexico. Pelosi has featured 28 times for the U17s against other national sides, scoring eight goals. Academy director Frank McParland said:*"We're determined to identify the best possible talent globally*and I'm delighted we've been able to to bring Marc in to the club."
I know soccer (used that word on purpose) is not a big sport in the US but it is very interesting that LFC are now looking so far and wide for the latest talents. I presume he qualified for a work permit because of all his national appearances whereas Villyan Bijev did not.
This has been rumoured since the summer and I think he has been around Liverpool a few months. Appros of nothing but Jen Chang of SI think Coady is a better prospect than Pelosi. Soemwhat sceptical as to whether he would have seen enough of Coady to form that opinion (not saying its wrong though).
Your right about ' soccer ball ' and the US, it's a massive girls sport. But the US have gotten to the last 8 in the last 2 Worlds Cups AFAIK so they are vastly under estimated. Besides all the Mexicans and the like are mad into their footie and I'm guessing with his surname that he is of South American descent. I think I read somewhere that Liverpool FC have set up an academy in India. I reckon there must be a few Messi's with cricket bats out there.
he was told by pep guardiola if he dosent go to barca to go to liverpool as it is the 2nd best place to develop
Marc Pelosi posted on his twitter "At police station, just got mugged by two angry scousers on bikes! I'm ok though."
think that was about 2 days ago and posted in another thread. Anyone see the under 18s game against the Mancs, he played some through ball to set up the winning goal.
