How the fu*k did rooney, fabregas, benzema and even suarez (and i absolutely luv the guy) get on the list and RVP isn't on it...the guy is currently the most prolific striker on the planet and scoring an average of a goal a game. Who the hell draws up this list or do they just pull em out of a hat.
Ya messi will obviously win it...but rvp should be at least in the top 3

suarez deserves to be on the list. hes been amazing since he joined us picking up the man of the match award every game and he scored 4 goals in the copa america and picked up the player of the tournament in that.

i agree that RVP should be on it but suarez merits his place on it.

Suarez was the man of the Copa America don't forget ;)

Also It was a shortlist which is drawn up by journalists and coaches over which started awhile ago. So by right RVP prob shouldn't have been on it, as he was injured for most of the start of the year. And it goes on the calendar year. Yes on Current form, RVP should probably win the thing.

RVP was injured a lot last year. Iniesta surely should be on that list.

Jeff Stelling said the RVP is on course to break the record for most goals scored in a calendar year, currently held by Shearer. I think he's 6 short now so should be on any list imo.

RVP has been fit since start of 2011, Madness he didn't get on the list when the likes of Rooney did when he had a terrible 1st half of 2011

Van the man is a class act. But it's messi's to lose. Each time he takes to a football field it's a joy to watch and he is a excellent role model for younger kids on how they shouldn't give up and should lead their life style .

Did he say what the record was?

I'd assume Messi & Ronaldo are both ahead of him, by some way. Unless of course it's just a Premier League record is it?

Anyone any stats to see who has scored the most in 2011 (calender year)?

Read somewhere but can't find it that RVP was second only to Ronaldo. Surely Messi has to be up there with the amount he has scored?!

Considering Ronaldo and RVP have 12 goals this season alone, and Messi has 22.

RVP scored 22 goals all of last SEASON, Messi scored 53 and Ronaldo scored 53

It's safe to assume RVP is nowhere near those 2 boys.

He does however have the most goals in a calendar year in England ;)
