HIi, since the last 2 months my internet speed has dropped dramatically. I'm with ericom, its not a wireless connection. Usually of sites like rapidshare i would get at least 200kbs d/l not its at 56 kbs. regardless if im downloading off a server or from sites like rapidshare. I don't have a download limit. I am running avg anti virus software and have always had a firewall (zone alarm) Checking now to see if it could be spyware. But does anyone have any idea of what it could be. Might just reinstall it.
I didnt know Eircom did an unlimited download Im on the 3GB package that I keep blowing through and am waiting to get stung for the overuse. Your problem though I know the more things you download at the one time lowers the speed but I would seriously doubt its a virus or spyware. My last computer was riddled with Spyware when I got rid of it and all it did was slow the PC itself down itself not the download speed as this was didcated by the router. The problem is probably with the host server, it may be hosting too many people now which cuts down the speed a lot, it may be as well to put in a call to Eircom about it as if your paying for a certain broadwidth you should be on a server that can provide it
yea, i only download one thing at a time and there is major roadworks going on at the moment (building a fly over) nearby so maybe its been spit to accommodate customers. thanks!
Technically speaking they don't allow for unlimited broadband, but at the moment they have no way of charging you once you go over your usage (unless you really take the mick). Buts thats all set to change over the coming months as they have programmers working on it so make the most of it while you can
i got 414kbs on download and 208 on upload. that has dropped significantly since I first did it. sure my download was around 1500 something kbs when I last did it.
i have a 2mb line and did the test here on this website http://www.speedtest.net/ just click on the dublin server Results are : Download 1856 Upload 1892 Note this is a 2mb up and download service _____________________________________ Seems you are only getting the speed of a 1/2 mb line to be honest mate. I get download speed of 240 KB of sites like rapid share. ------------------------------------------------------------- If your paying for a 1/2 mb conection the stats seem right, if your paying for 2mb connection them get onto your isp as your not getting the full service Hope this helps

i'm on a 3mb line and i'm getting speeds 2332 download and 226 upload would that be right or is it slower?
http://www.irishisptest.com/ is another good speed test site. I regularly get 1750kbps DL and 215(ish)kbps UL on a 2mbps DSL connection.
