Liverpool have announced they will take on Glasgow Rangers in a prestigious friendly later this month. The Reds will travel to Glasgow for the fixture on Tuesday, October 18, (kick-off 7.30pm) for a match which will see Charlie Adam and Danny Wilson returning to Ibrox for the first time since moving south of the border. The two teams last met in a pre-season friendly in August 2008, with Liverpool running out 4-0 winners in Scotland. Liverpool have been allocated up to 4,000 tickets for this fixture. Tickets will be priced at £25 for adults, £15 for over 65's and fans aged 16 or 17, with under 16's priced at £5 each. Full selling arrangements will be announced Wonder what sort of team we'll send? Could do without this to be honest
Im thinking of going....anyone know when ticket info will be announced and will they be tough to get??
Probably on sale by the end of the week and on general sale i'd say...........Who's going to travel to that right in the middle of a mental period of games for us?????????
cant really see the point of this game tbh, we play united on the sat then norwich the following saturday, this is all after an international break. The only reason i can see for it is to get game time for the likes of spearing, coates, maxi, flanagan, robinson etc
This is plain stupid. A friendly that could have a bit of a competitive edge to it between two important premier league fixtures. It there's any injuries caused then serious questions should be asked.
i think its a great the lads who need games will play doni flanno coates wilson robbo johnson spearing adam maxi bellemy caroll???
Strange time to have the game.Would i be correct in saying that most of the players who will be away on international duty, would only be returning to their clubs on a sunday or morning off that week?
I don't see any problem with it;the manager will use it to his advantage. However in these difficult economic times I think a lot of fans on both sides will give it a miss.
Don't agree at all. This time last year we had 6 European fixtures. A friendly with a short trip to Glasgow with the potential for 5-7 subs for team should not be a problem. With the priority being placed on the League Cup this season this match will give a game to some of the fringe 1st team players. Personally I have never been of the belief that we have a better chance of regaining top flight European football next season by not being involved in any European competition this season. The only thing I don't like about this match is that it is likely it will not be broadcast live on TV as Champions League matches will be taking place at the same time. The clubs have only met 10 times in history with both teams winning four each and drawing the other two. Although Liverpool have won the last three games (all friendlies.)
As I expected this match will not be live on TV with only online coverage next Tuesday night. Disregarding the fact that this game probably could not be broadcast at the same time as a Champions League fixture it would be essential for Glasgow Rangers that this match would be not broadcast live to ensure a decent home crowd in their stadium.
